The decision by one of Britains largest hotel chains to remove Bibles from its rooms has sparked complaints from Christians.
Travelodge, which operates 500 hotels, says the Bibles were removed for diversity reasons, citing the countrys increasing multicultural influences, the Daily Mail reported. The chain reportedly said that despite the recent uproar, the decision to remove the Bibles was made in 2007.
The company said in a statement that the move was designed so as not to discriminate against any religion. Now the Bibles, supplied by the Gideon Society, are available at the reception desks for guests to borrow.
According to the Daily Mail, a receptionist at a Travelodge branch in London could not find a copy of the Bible when one was recently requested, and suggested instead to use the hotels free Wifi to Google it and read it online.
The employee was forced to call his manager when pressed to find a hard copy of the Bible and was told that there were no Bibles in the hotel since a renovation done last year.
Travelodge is the first national hotel chain to remove Bibles, according to the report. In 2012, one independent hotel replaced Bibles with the best-seller, Fifty Shades of Grey.

Soon your room will come with a free Quran. ISIS should expand their Caliphate map.
“Bibles were removed for diversity reasons”

What the H does that mean? I will send a message that I will never stay in one of their dirt-bag whore houses again.
Odd claim - there aren't many books more diverse than the Bible.
Touches on every conceivable human concern (and sin), hundreds of different cultures spanning thousands of years.
Contains humor, tragedy, love poems and prose, and practicle wisdom - that's diverse content.
If people are offended by a Bible being in a room, a book nobody is forced to read, what’s to keep them from being offended by a church on the street? If society accepts the idea that all offensive things should be eliminated in the name of diversity then it has no ending.
When a person stays in a hotel in Jordan...where the majority of residents are Moslem...but diverse due to tourist and other passerbys....the rooms allhve a symbol marked in the ceiling to show which way Mecca is....it,s nice that Christianity has to take a side step...but Islam keeps on advancing....
When you drill down to the core, leftists have a deep hatred of God, His morals & values and anyone who recognizes that God truly is our Creator.
Leftism is truly the Sodom & Gomorrah party of evil.
Britain giving up its identity..
America is close behind.
Not sure what's more disturbing--the moral spinelessness, or the ineptitude of a hotel chain and its inability to execute on a decision made 7 years ago. Really, it took 7 years for you to carry out a decision? If someone needs new towels, how long does it take to get them up to the room...5 days?
Anglo-Saxon England was Orthodox Christian until 1066.
Time to go back!!!!
I once turned down a COO position because the hotel in the city did not have a Bible in the room. That was not the exclusive reason, but factored in it. Figured it was indicative of the regional culture. It was “up nawth” after all.
Weird thing is, by this hotel chain's actions, along with everything else that's rapidly changing in ways not dreamed of even just a decade ago, these interesting times we're living in have the look and feel of that book's ending.
I'm thinking the hotel chain might do better by reading that book instead of removing it so as not to offend.
Ironic, considering the level of offense that act truly is.
Sometimes those stickers can be steamed off and reoriented 180 degrees. Sometimes it requires a little furniture rearrangement.
But the bar stays. Right?
Oh, yeah. Nothing like being in Dubai and watching the locals and Saudis roll in and immediately ditch their religious principles at the numerous watering holes.
I have never been in a hotel room that did not come with a Gideon Bible. Including a heck of a lot of them up here in the North.
I have to believe though that just like with every other issue attached to the Christian faith, they are under tremendous pressure to cave.
‘I came. I saw. I won’t go back.’
The hotel we stayed at in Jordan - had it embedded in the ceiling...painted black...it was called The Bristol...next to a sand lot - nice place...western part of Amman...
This motel was in Albany. I guess there’s a chance someone took it out of the room and took it home.
