“What Perry did was to use his part of the Power of the Purse to try to see that justice was done.”
I think the question here is did Perry misuse the power of his office to force an elected official that he has no jurisdiction over to resign.
Or to put it another way. Does the Governor have the power to set aside the results of a verified election because he’s outraged at the behavior of the elected official.
He does have that power. Since the drunken scumbag’s office doesn’t fund itself, Perry has final say if they get any money. He said if the whiskey soused head of that office did not step down, no money. The in her cups prosecutor could have decided, along with her underlings, to work for free and pay all their own expenses, then Perry would have no power to do anything.
If he had that power, he would have simply fired the bitch.
He does have a duty to do his best to see that state funds are spent wisely. Keeping the public integrity funds out of the bitch's hands was certainly advisable under the circumstances.
