After Patrick Sawyers sister died of the virus, Liberias Ministry of Health instructed him not to travel. But he was allowed to fly to Lagos. Now hes deadand 10 more are infected.
From the hot zone come more chilling reports about the U.S. citizen who brought Ebola from his native Liberia to Nigeria and might well have brought it to America if he had been able to return to his wife and children in Minnesota this month as he planned.

So was he really told not to leave, or is this just a stupid Liberian official who is covering his own ass or the asses of other stupid Liberians up the food chain?
...... he was manifestly ill. He is said to have been in such physical distress that surveillance camera footage shows him at one point sprawling facedown in the airport waiting area.Sawyer vomited repeatedly during the two-stop flight and collapsed upon arriving at the Lagos airport. He was taken to First Consultant Hospital, where he reportedly told the medical staff that he had malaria.

So much for the assurances from the CDC and others that Ebola victims who are infectious are just too sick to travel, so no worries there.
Political Correctness and too many connections to Turd World countries guarantees a pandemic.
It looks like he KNEW he had it as well:

That’s the other thing ..... people have it, know they have it, and still do stuff like Sawyer did. Ebola can cause psychosis, too - was that a factor in Sawyer’s actions? You would think he’d be smart enough, if he knew he had Ebola, not to want to bring it home to his family. He was obviously fairly advanced in the progression of the virus by his symptoms so I’m thinking he wasn’t firing on all cylinders, either. Regardless, horrible situation. Now you have the people raiding Ebola facilities and stealing blood stained bedding, mattresses etc. - the same items that are generally burned on a daily basis to prevent the spread of the virus. To restate the obvious - NOT good.
Well, it actually sounds like he WAS too sick to travel, but he travelled anyway.
You see, they can’t “advise” people not to travel, they must PREVENT them from travelling.
If I ran a country in Africa I would have my borders sealed, even if I had to put every cop and soldier in the country on border detail, and I would not permit any flights from the affected region to land.
This has to be done, what are they waiting for?
Old school says you really close borders (shoot those crossing), quarantine travelers, the infected and those caring for the infected. That means air travel is out and sea travel would have to be longer than the incubation period. but then that’s so 20th century.
You see, they cant advise people not to travel, they must PREVENT them from travelling.

I started to get into that in my post, but it got too complicated. Not only did he travel, but he was allowed to travel, despite being obviously ill in public places. It all boils down to the fact that I don’t trust the governments, “authorities”, CDC, etc. to manage effectively what is obviously turning into a situation that is going to be more than an African tragedy. There are no “leaders” any more who do what is best for their country and their people, even it it’s not politically advantageous, just bureaucrats and community organizers.
You do know there was an internal U.S. report that our own southern borders are being crossed by people from the ebola-infected countries?
Yes. It does cause the brain to bleed and people to act irrationally. The end stages see some wandering the streets not knowing where they area. They also begin to have epileptic-style shakes and convulsing before they split open, guts spill out.
It’s quite a gruesome disease. The panic would be incredible. It’d shut down trade and commerce, schools, everything.
Also, the stealing bloody sheets, etc.
This takes it out of the thugs looking for drugs or family members thinking it’s a conspiracy.
That’s an action consistent with some ‘bounty’ or perhaps paid for job to get hold of the virus for God knows what plan.
We have an open southern borders. Well funded enemies.
Doesn’t take a genius to see how vulnerable we are as a nation. But Democrats want the open border to allow in future voters. So they won’t stop this.
This might also explain the “indiscipline” Sawyer was showing to medical staff in Nigeria. Here’s a link where his actions were not that of somebody in their ‘right mind’ in my opinion (pulling out tubes, urinating on staff, etc.):
He had “Diplomatic Immunity”...
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
A link to this thread has been posted on the Ebola Surveillance Thread
He (SAWYER) is said to have been in such physical distress that surveillance camera footage shows him at one point sprawling facedown in the airport waiting area.
SO WHY DIDN'T THEY TAKE HIM TO A HOSPITAL?
The footage, which has not been released but has been viewed by a reporter for The New Dawn, also reportedly shows a downcast and sick-looking Sawyer seeming to avoid physical contact with others, at one point declining to shake the outstretched hand of an immigration officiala suggestion that he harbored at least a suspicion that he might be carrying an infectious disease.
Sawyer vomited repeatedly during the two-stop flight and collapsed upon arriving at the Lagos airport. He was taken to First Consultant Hospital, where he reportedly told the medical staff that he had malaria.
He tested positive for Ebola and is said to have been in such deep and desperate denial that he insisted the doctors were wrong. He is described by FrontPageAfrica as having become so angry he ripped the IV lines from his arms. He also apparently sought the help of high-ranking Liberian officials, who reportedly pressured the hospital to release him, initially so he could attend the conference, then simply so he could go home.
Thanks for the ping!
