Travis County DA Rosemary Lehmberg’s Drinking Problem and Abuse of Power, By the Staggering Numbers
PJ Tattler ^ | August 16, 2014 | Bryan Preston

The indictment of Gov. Rick Perry by a grand jury in Travis County, Texas, is part of a power struggle that originates with a serious crime, albeit not one committed by Gov. Perry.

That crime, as everyone knows by now, is drunk driving, and it was committed by Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg.

When Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, Democrat, was arrested and charged with drunk driving on April 12, 2013, her blood alcohol level measured .23.

That is just shy of three times the legal limit in Texas, which is .08.

According to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Lehmberg must have consumed about 10 alcoholic drinks in one hour to achieve a .23 blood alcohol rating.

District Attorney Lehmberg also had an open bottle of vodka in her car, violating Texas’ longstanding open container law.

From January 2012 to April 2013 — 15 months — Lehmberg made 59 purchases of alcohol at various Twin Liquors stores, a rate of nearly one purchase a week.

She bought 76 bottles of alcohol. According to the receipts, Lehmberg prefers Ciroc vodka. Lehmberg routinely purchased 1.75 liter bottles of vodka, at a price of nearly $60 each. On occasions, she bought more than one 1.75 liter bottle of Ciroc at a time.

Those 76 bottles add up to 24.7 gallons of alcohol purchased over 15 months. The last purchase in the KEYE-compiled list was on April 2, 2013 — 10 days before her arrest for drunk driving, and the subsequent attempt to abuse her power by trying to intimidate the officers who processed her in jail. Lehmberg purchased vodka on that day. An open bottle of vodka was found in her car during her arrest.

I heard on tv this morning that George W appointed her - do you know if that is true?

I thought she was elected, not appointed.

Its your link so lets go thru it.

Just below that it says: Doggett has been in a fierce battle with Cornyn for control of the recommendation process.

Then in the next article dated Oct 13th, 2009 it says in the 5th paragraph: Doggett's top choice was Travis County Attorney David Escamilla

It then says: Cornyn vowed to block any US Attorney pick that didn't pass through screening committee set up earlier this year by the Republicans

I’m sure you didn’t expect a response like this, and certainly not one as long, but I sense a need to bring into the conversation some weighty and true things that are on the minds of many Christians when they think about the state of our nation and the reasons for the apathy, even the hatred of God and His beloved Son, AND the hatred of His followers, that exists in this nation, as well as many other nations.

I happen to believe what God says in His Word—every bit of it, from beginning to end. God has said that He is going to deal with all the nations, as well as Israel, in the last days (i.e., since Jesus’ resurrection). We are in the last days.

He has laid down the history of His people Israel so that we might not be ignorant of how He deals with mankind—as individuals and as nations.

God desires that we return to Him, that we humbly confess our unrighteousness and recognize His holiness and rightousness and sovereignty. He is our Creator. He had a mission of redemption laced with love for us in the sacrificial gift of His Son.

For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

This “believing in Him” means seeing ourselves as we really are without the Son—as sinners who need to be forgiven by a holy God. This “believing in Him” also means believing Him as the source of forgiveness and eternal life, as He paid for our sins by dying in our place and shedding His blood. [For without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.]

And His resurrection not only means that believers will be raised up at the end of this present age, it means that all who believe in Him are raised up to walk in newness of life NOW on this earth. That means we have a life to live that is to be lived in faith’s obedience to His Word. It is lived in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit and of the Word of God.

So, this Book He left us is a believer’s legacy and has a bearing on everything the true believer thinks, says, and does (because he really believes it). We’re not perfect in the sense of not ever sinning, but we are no longer dead in our trespasses and sins (not walking in, or living, a sinful life as before, Ephesians 2:1-10), AND we press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus, as Paul explained. (Philippians 4:7-21)

There are many battles on many fronts on this earth. There is one individual behind the evil—the one called the father of lies, the devil. He is a defeated foe, which will be fully realized when the Lord Jesus Christ comes again to this earth to deal with the nations and with Israel, and to rule and reign over the earth from Jerusalem.

The “little bit that counts” is believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and walking in faithful obedience as stated above, in His power and by His direction.

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 118:8—it is the middle verse of the entire Bible:

“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.”

And the next verses pertains to our leaders/rulers:

“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.”

Did you read this part?

We reported last week that Doggett supported President Obama’s decision to nominate San Antonio-based lawyer Michael McCrum for the post.

In Texas, if you are more than 2x the limit, you go to jail. Almost always.

I haven’t found that report of her being hired by GW, but nothing excuses her drunken, belligerent state!

You’re either naive, or don’t follow TX politics. This kind of garbage is SOP for Texas democrats.

Yes I read that part, but that was after the fact that he could not get his pick David Escamilla nominated.

It looks to me like Obama stabbed Doggett in the back because Obama didn't want do battle with the republicans/Cornyn over the lowly job of Attorney of the Western District.

Doggett had no choice but to change his tune to save face and support McCrum

I’m referring to obama’s post choice...McCrum.
Why does Obama like McCrum?

The prez is always going to go with the recommendation from the state. In this case he could have gone with the Doggetts recommendation of Escamilla or the republican choice of McCrum.

If Obama had gone with Doggetts pick it would have been huge battle over a position that is not very important.

In late 2007, Earle announced that he would not seek reelection to his post.
His departure precipitated a race to fill his seat. Four Democrats, all employees
of his office, ran for the seat. In the primary election held on March 4, 2008, no
candidate received 50 percent of the vote. A runoff election was held between
the top two finishers, and Rosemary Lehmberg – who Earle had endorsed – won handily.
She faced no Republican opponent in the general election. She took office in January
2009 and is the first woman district attorney in Travis County history

Oh course not- I certainly didn’t mean anything like that. I was wondering if her position is normally an elected one, but perhaps appointed if an opening happens in mid- term

A Freeper remarked about the remarkable resemblance to John Belushi on another thread so I did a google image search and came up with that one. That was when SNL was actually funny.

If you or I or anybody for that matter had been busted for DUI, we most likely would have been fired from our job. At the very least put on probation of some sort.

BUT SINCE SHE IS A F**KING LOW LIFE DISTRICT ATTORNEY SHE GETS TO KEEP HER JOB AND ALL THE PERKS THAT GO WITH IT!

It’s good to be part of the CLUB.

Another site: In addition to being appointed as an assistant U.S. attorney during the George H.W. Bush Administration, McCrum also was selected by President Obama for one for the four U.S. Attorney posts in Texas. McCrum, after more than nine months of congressional inaction, withdrew his name from consideration.

McCrum was accused of wrongdoing earlier this year by the Bexar County (San Antonio) DAs office of telling a witness who had been subpoenaed to testify in a drunk-driving trial to "get lost for a while."

So you have a butt hurt (there was a reason his nomination was not voted on. Hint: too liberal) special prosecutor with no ethics getting an indictment from a grand jury instead of judge. Everyone knows you can indict a ham sandwich, he avoided a judge on purpose.
