After police in Kenosha, Wis., shot my 21-year-old son to death outside his house ten years ago — and then immediately cleared themselves of all wrongdoing — an African-American man approached me and said: “If they can shoot a white boy like a dog, imagine what we’ve been going through.”
I could imagine it all too easily, just as the rest of the country has been seeing it all too clearly in the terrible images coming from Ferguson, Mo., in the aftermath of the killing of Michael Brown. On Friday, after a week of angry protests, the police in Ferguson finally identified the officer implicated in Brown's shooting, although the circumstances still remain unclear.
I have known the name of the policeman who killed my son, Michael, for ten years. And he is still working on the force in Kenosha.
If the police say you are a threat. You is a threat.
In the posted article it says the son was handcuffed.
BTW, to all, the link takes you to page 2 of the story, so that’s a little confusing.
Of course cops are allowed to use deadly force if they fear for their lives, and I understand that people make mistakes, but if you know that no matter how bad you screw up nobody is going to call you on it, well that is a recipe for disaster.
Like, take Obama for example - take him please!

Thanks Shannon. Wierd how the father’s site presents it as “so and so said they saw cuffs” rather than just “he was in cuffs”. It appears it may be in dispute. Father’s web site talks about an officer removing the cuffs from the scene as if there were none found on the son and they must have snuck them away.
Your understanding is incorrect.
Killing an animal would not entail the same charges (namely: murder) as killing a human being.

Obviously a lot of them say he went for my gun, that way even though the civilian is unarmed, the police have a reason
But the shooter did not say it. His partner did and it was heard by others. Even the defense lawyer says the gun was pulled on but claims it was by the mirror.
“The evidence in a shooting is presented to a Grand Jury, they are the ones who say ‘yay’ or ‘nay.’”
That doesn’t happen all the time where LEOs are involved although it should. The public should get the last word on those that work for and are paid by the public, not DA, or FOP or PC.
ifmher kid had just strongarm robbed a store, and then punched an officer in the face and went for his gun, then yes, her son was like this punk thug.
I’m not trying to be smart but where I come from every fatal police officer involved shooting has been presented to a Grand Jury.
Police DO always clear themselves, especially when the DA is besties with the Sheriff. That’s what happened here in my hometown of Santa Rosa, with the shooting of 13 year old Andy Lopez a few months ago by Sheriff’s deputy Eric Gelhaus. The DA (who campaigned for the Sheriff, her special buddy) declared — two weeks after HER reelection — that the shooting was justified, nothing to see folks, move on — and now that the Sheriff is out of town on vacation and “can’t be reached for comment” they’ve announced that Gelhaus is to be put back on active duty, on County roads. Makes me want to puke. I went to a protest about this today (I’m not a big protester but this got me going) and there were only about 30 people there. People are f***ing blind. If it doesn’t directly impinge on them they have no clue. We have the crap government we deserve, it seems.
The “officials” who call themselves public servants have come to believe that the public works for and are subservient to them. Why wouldn’t they with their generous pensions and benefits funded by taxpayers.
That is the mindset of elitism that needs immediately changed. Government works for us, not vice versa.

Worked out well for the perp and for the cop who actually shot him. Both are now dead....

Hetty_Fauxvert, when I lived in Santa Rosa’s West End a few years back, a SWAT team marched into my house with their weapons drawn and pointed at my wife and children. They were looking for the drug dealer who lived on the next street and got the address wrong. Apparently he was wanted for the theft of semi-automatic weapons from the sheriff’s department. If I had been home there’s a good chance I would’ve been shot as a precaution....
So you think that decorated cop with no complaints over a six year career was trigger happy?
