Looters in Ferguson, Mo., were met with little police resistance Friday night and store owners say they were forced to protect their businesses with their own guns, Fox2Now.com reported.

"I think the first message is to remind all law enforcement that they are hired to serve and protect and if they

“It used to be the case that the Highway Patrol had jurisdiction only on the highways”

Before that they could go anywhere. Then there was the agreement made that the CHP would only cover the highways. There has been some back and forth on this subject over the past 70 years.

I live in a Nashville suburb and I have seven police types from undercover narc to uniformed SGT and warrant LT for nearby neighbors, and; all tell me over 90 percent of the metro cops are Army reserve.

Government, and the authority that proceeds from it right on down to the local police, is a gift from God(unless it is abused). The option to no authority is anarchy, which is a terrifying state of lawlessness in which no one is safe.

The Korean store owners in Los Angeles had to protect their own stores in the riots there.

Many were on the roofs shooting down at looters.

Those riots were urged by Mayor Bradley. He should have been indicted and put into jail. Rep Waters was also in that same church with Bradley.

Whoa! The police are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. People want them to walk in with just their handguns and smile and wave at people who are throwing bricks and molotov cocktails at them. Snipers on rooftops and random shots from all directions. If these people want lawlessness, let them see what it’s like. The French police did this when Muzzies burned down their neighborhoods. You can’t have it both ways.

I lived in Los Angeles at the time.

Those buildings which were burned out have mostly never been restored. NO insurance company will cover anything in the area of Watts.

OTOH, I don’t think a RIOT is covered by any insurance anywhere.

I agree. I can’t imagine anyone, at least not the whites, staying on the Ferguson police force now. They will be targeted every day. Why should they risk their lives for people who hate them?

police only provoke the animals. Force can be used on anyone but those committing the crimes (ie, whites)

I do NOT think any insurance policy covers RIOTS.

And had the police rushed in with force to stop the looters...
What would have been the narrative then?

Catch 22

That's misleading. This community is part of a large metropolitan area of St. Louis County. St. Louis County has lots of police and equipment.

Gov. Nixon without even talking to the County authorities, ordered all local area police off and turned it over to the state highway patrol. Some consider this a blatant abuse of power by Nixon.

The media and race baiters were having a field day blaming all the violence on the police and being highly critical of any action they took.

So some of the blame goes to Gov. Nixon for ordering the police away. Nixon by the way, does have higher political aspirations, and has usually been supported by the black voters of the large urban centers, so he naturally wants this taken care of without losing their support.

Law enforcement truths:
Want to see someone F up a traffic accident investigation? Call the sheriff.
Want to see someone F up a homicide investigation? Call the highway patrol.

And? That means nothing if the police dept isn’t trained as a whole cohesive unit at the same time & by the same trainers at the same place.
“Army reservist” can mean everything from part-time avionics tech to supply to cook to dental assistant.

So again, I’m still waiting on anyone to tell me which military base local cops are trained at to be a military force that will be “taking over America”.

There’s nothing you can do about raving paranoia. I have been stunned by the looniness and hatred of the police expressed here. I bet it drives a lot of people away from this site. Which may be its intention - we have no idea who is posting this stuff.

My .357 doesn’t bang, it barks!

My M44 makes a visceral blast, kind of like "WHAM!!!!!!". Plus it has the helpful bayonet to assure I remain on target at point blank range. I wish it was semi-auto.
