Yes, as long as we live on top of one another, we can live forever.

I call BS.
Any time I’m in NYC, I end up with congested lungs and shortness of breath.

People in dense cities are thinner and have healthier hearts than people in sprawling subdivisions.

Too broke to eat?

Why is it that liberals imagine some sort of utopia would result if we were all crammed into cities? I’ve seen many articles extolling some benefit of city living. Of course, they would love to cram us all into cities, like sardines.

In the suburbs, you don’t have to be subjected to pollution and filth any time you step out of your cramped apartment, and you don’t have to worry as much about crime. Plus, you have the chance to actually get to know your neighbors.

I know I’ve been commuting in/out of Chicago - tried to start my workout that been really successful - but after waging war with dense traffic and spending all day in the office - I’m too tried and prep the next day before going to bed...an endless cycle.

Now, on the flip side. Not living in a big city and being able to come home from work within 10 minutes - I have time and energy to devote to working out. So it depends on ones motivation and time. I think a home gym is better, most cost beneficial, and will be used more than joining a gym.

The people I work with that live a few blocks down...they have a gum in their building and use it regularly - because there’s really nothing else to do...other than go out and drink...options, location, and desire rule if one is obese or not - living in a big city doesn’t do it - IMHO

I was part of a study that compared health behaviors in the U.S. and Italy—where people eat pasta and drink wine long into the night and never die.

Tell that to Mrs. Michael Corleone.

Another liberal BS study to cram ppl into cities. The more ppl that are out of the suburbs and and rural areas the more libs rule our lives.

He doesn’t spend much time at the welfare center I reckon.

Seen a 300lb man sitting at a grocery store entrance one day with a sign claiming will work for food, just sayin.

“Yes, as long as we live on top of one another, we can live forever.”

But, to paraphrase Mark Twain, who would want to?

Right, the suburbs, where no pools are found, no jogging paths, no TaeKwonDo classes, no soccer, certain no exercise is taking place. Right.

No thank you. The author's point of view is TOO New York City-centric, and frankly, I'd rather live in the suburbs close by than live in the center of the city itself with its costly and cramped apartments.

People who live in the city are healthier, they just don’t live as long.

WOW, a few extra months in a nursing home at the end of our lives IF only we had the wit to live in some crowded inner city hellhole. Book me a ticket.
