I know I’ve been commuting in/out of Chicago - tried to start my workout that been really successful - but after waging war with dense traffic and spending all day in the office - I’m too tried and prep the next day before going to bed...an endless cycle.
Now, on the flip side. Not living in a big city and being able to come home from work within 10 minutes - I have time and energy to devote to working out. So it depends on ones motivation and time. I think a home gym is better, most cost beneficial, and will be used more than joining a gym.
The people I work with that live a few blocks down...they have a gum in their building and use it regularly - because there’s really nothing else to do...other than go out and drink...options, location, and desire rule if one is obese or not - living in a big city doesn’t do it - IMHO
Whatever works for you is the best exercise.
That said, it is the eating that puts on the pounds. An hour on a stairclimber burns 400 calories. Followed by two glazed donuts and a sweetened coffee will add 500+
No sugar, no flour, no processed foods. The pounds will fall off.
