First lady Michelle Obamas lunch room mandates for schools around the nation have now received a bit of a public relations boost from retired admirals and generals who say: Theyre not a bad idea.
Mission:Readiness a consortium of about 500 retired and former members of the military who held high-ranking posts is poised to storm the Hill when Congress comes back from break in hopes of persuading lawmakers to keep the first ladys lunch room standards in operation, Politico reported.
Were not going to retreat our way out of the problem, said Lt. Gen. Normal Seip, who served in the Air Force for 35 years, Politico reported.

any rank above Lt Col in any branch should be considered as kiss ass political and self serving.
Military morale must be so low that even the Generals and Admirals have given up on retention. Hell, I think they have even given up on combat readiness.
In a few schools some parents tried that. The lunch boxes were inspected and anything not considered healthy was tossed out. What is unhealthy you say, anything not on the approved Moochel list of accepted menu items.
I went to college with Norman Seip.
He was a bright fellow back then...
Everyone needs to do it. “a few schools” isn’t going to stop it
I have absolutely no damned confidence in our military leadership. This is absolutely disgusting.
Don’t these retired military have any6thing better to do with their time? Maybe they were threatened that their pensions would be chopped? Maybe they are self-loathing and just like to be humiliated and degraded?
Wha...?
So ex-military leaders are experts on nutrition, just like Michelle?
This is stupid.
Michelle obama introduced obama to the terrorists Bernardine Dohrn and Bill Ayers. They killed at least 5 people, wounded scores of people in bombings and bank robberies. Planned on killing over 300 men and women at a dance - luckily the bomb went off early and killed several terrorists.
These 500 members of the military are a disgrace!
500??? Can they have that much dirt on them? I can't think of any other reason for them to join Chewbacca's school lunch brigade.
Who would no better than military men that you can’t fight on an empty stomach?
Did the democrats just happen to have these 500 names on a list somewhere?
We have learned that retired generals don’t know diddly about running hospitals, and now we’re learning they also don’t know their way around a kid’s lunchroom. A bunch of knuckleheads.
Some here might remember Ladybird Johnson's highway beautification effort. Removed roadside billboards so Indians took advantage of the situation and erected them on Indian land.
Auto salvage yards had to build fences that were uglier than the junked cars they concealed.
Nope, they are inspected and offending foods are remove and trashed.
Why worry about what they eat? Feed them what will be consumed and put Physical Education back in school grades 1-11. If they eliminated the PC garbage being taught in classes which is not the purpose of school and replaced it with PE or recess to get some exercise in the problem would be resolved.
When I was in school we ate as much as we wanted. When I was in the Navy same thing. The ship had a Gedunk store and vending machines along with the usual unofficial coke and popcorn messes here and there. A Coke went for about 75 cents at sea in a Coke mess. Oh and they were made with sugar not corn syrup. We burned it off being active.
I see two problems. No PE in schools and sad to say in many places today at home kids can't go out and play because perverts have special rights. Society doesn't punish them anymore.
I think that these retired brassholes should show how important it is for children to eat this crap by having it for lunch themselves for a month or more. And they have to eat all of it. And they don’t get any more food from breakfast to dinner. Even coffee.
