Just spent plenty of time working in the ER seeing these poor souls and hearing the stories.
Sure would like to know how he hanged himself sitting on a chair and what the struggle was....sounds odd to me.
Bipolar is treatable.
Sort of. But some can’t take lithium, and there are side effects to a lot of the meds. People don’t like living dulled or drugged like a zombie. Then they stop taking the meds. When they are hypo manic they feel great and creative, on the top of the world. Meds? For what!? I feel great!
Then they start drinking or smoking to come down to get some rest, then they come wayyyyyy down, and life is not even worth living and they feel more worthless than used toilet paper.
It’s hard to keep
Someone with bipolar alive til old age.
How does one hang oneself seated in a chair?
“Allowing God to come into your life is the answer to all mental disorders.”
And often that mental disorder is linked to chemical imbalances in the brain.
Seems as though high IQ tortured souls *do* perceive the world correctly, thus they are hyper-aware that isn't pretty. Solomon knew and described it in the entire book of Ecclesiates: all is vanity.
The trouble is, for whatever reason they fail to draw the proper conclusion revealed in the last two verses of the last chapter. The dark forces of the world surely cheer when a soul of great potential can be blinded and taken out of *their* way.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
I was wondering about the wife thing myself,,she said she last saw Williams alive at 10 pm the night before. How could that happen if you’re living in the same house? What kind of marriage is that?
Are you kidding? My family has a genetic predisposition to both clinical depression and anxiety disorders. We’re all for the most part God-living Christians. That doesn’t stop us from having these issues. We understand that out genetic weakness is part of living in a fallen world, and we thank God that we have access to medicine and that none of us have killed ourselves so far. My cousin came close once before she was medicated. Simply having Jesus in our lives will not spare us from our chemical imbalances or our cancers, diabetes, Etc. But it does make it easier to cope.
Probably explains why the others didn’t work out.
“Suicide is the ultimate self-indulgence. Instead of saying I am going to dedicate myself to helping others and making the world better, you just avoid that by checking out.”
It’s really not that simple.
***God-loving
OK, how do you hang yourself while seated?
So is the rejection of God... Williams was a Liberal and like most Libs denounced God and derided those who believe in God and His Son Jesus Christ... one of his quotes, I havent found God or anything like that but she just might have found me. illustrate his disdain for God and God’s nature. Acknowledging God and the reality of the natural world into which He has paced humanity is the basis for a sound mind. Refusing to acknowledge that which is plainly seen tends to twist a person’s soul and mind into a pretzel... that is the disease.
Why "disdain"? That's your own judgment and not necessarily a fair interpretation of Robin Williams' quip.
Acknowledging God and the reality of the natural world into which He has paced humanity is the basis for a sound mind. Refusing to acknowledge that which is plainly seen tends to twist a persons soul and mind into a pretzel... that is the disease.
It may all be simple for you, but people can have complicated relationships to God.
come off it
It really is. That’s the problem. Easy answers are the hardest to accept.
"I tried to warn him..."
I’d get down to the gates of hell and Satan would JUMP OUT....RRROOAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!! Ah #@$#...you were married huh? Well, I guess there’s nothing much new for you here. Well, I’ll give you the nickel tour anyway....see that? That’s where we torment the soul.......OOOOOOOH! Say, you didn’t happen to see any single guys coming down the tunnel did you? I can scare the .... out of them. Oh &*(! ....you were married twice? Want a job? That qualifies you for the job placement program here in Hell...”
Not sure if it's the answer for his emaciation, but according to Wikipedia he had contracted herpes simplex in the mid-80s.
Awesome post.
