That is horrible. Very sad news.
He had a lot of good roles but I never wanted to see him open his mouth without a script
“My impression has always been that he was a manic/depressive personality.”
He has long been known as someone on the edge.
I have enjoyed some of his stuff. I’m going to pretty much sit this one out having said what I have. There’s no love lost with the far left whack-jobs that can’t quite grasp that they should be speaking out in objection to this president.
May he rest in peace. It’s probably more than we’re going to get in the near future.
A shame, he was excellent in Good Will Hunting.
One of his best works, a serious character done
very well.
I didn’t like him, but it still is very sad news. Sorry he had such demons to fight.
He has been battling demons of depression for a long time. Alcoholism, too.
Very sad.
Money, fame, and talent do not bring happiness.
May the Lord be with his family.
First question: Was he on anti-depressants?
RIP Robin, thanks for the fun laughs.
You know Robin, it could have been so much worse. I value life as I watch the plight of those poor people in Iraq. They want to live and that ain’t happening for them.
That is real tragedy.
Bipolar is a terrifying condition.
I watched one of those actors forum shows several years ago & he was very candid about his struggles with alcohol/drugs and mental issues.
Said he went into a very dark place when he was depressed. So bipolar/manic depressive..mixed with booze, not a good combo.
RIP
A lot of people are killing themselves ever since the worst President in US history took office, and that is no joke. Two people I know killed themselves. I’m 51 and I never knew anybody who committed suicide, yet in only 4 years 2 of them who couldn’t deal with depression. . This world is going through some major evil crap and people can’t deal with it, and this piece of rat filth is living it up playing golf.
If it was suicide then it was a cowardly act. Like an abortion.
Caught his act at the Old Spaghetti Factory in North Beach just as he was starting to break on Mork and Mindy. Hilarious almost to the point of hysteria. He seemed to me then like a real manic/depressive. Sorry to hear this, though.

Brilliant comedian.
Oh Captain My Captain
RIP. Williams was indeed a lefty, but there WERE things he could criticize “from the Right.” For example, in his At The Met routine, he made fun of the London police policy barring most regular cops (Bobbies) from carrying guns. “If you commit a crime,” he explained, “they’ll say ‘STOP, or I’ll ... say stop again!’”
Remember Freddie Prinz?. He committed suicide at the top of his career. Robin Williams was the second to last person to see John Belushi alive at that creepy old hotel on Sunset Boulevard. Many comedians are sad inside.
Yes, not unlike his idol Jonathan Winters.
