This year has seen fine comic losses in Tim Wilson, John Pinnette and Harold Ramis.
Robin Williams? Oh well.
***Comedians are often tortured souls.***
In the centuries past, a man went to a doctor for depression, suicide thoughts and such.
The doctor recommended he go see the famous GRIMALDI the comedian to lift his spirits.
The man said...”Dr, I AM GRIMALDI!”
Nanu! Nanu! Earth to Mork!
RIP
Robin Williams was not in peace, nor will he ever be.
That is the important message that needs to be taken home from this tragedy.
.
God bless you for being there for your mother when she really needed you.
Between Robin and Johnathan Winters God will be having some great comedy improv in heaven.
I saw it as well. When these funny guys can play a serious, heart breaking role in a movie that makes you cry....you just know.
RIP Mr. Williams. You made me laugh AND cry.
So sorry, Trisham. Hugs for you.
I recall he did several dramatic roles. One of which I recall was an episode of Homicide Life on the Streets in which he played a tourist whos wife was brutally murdered. As I recall, it was a heartbreaking and brilliant performance and pre-dated other dramatic roles to come like Good Will Hunting but after The Fisher King and Awakenings in which he was also very good.
Thank you, friend. (((Hugs))) back to you.
Yes, you are correct, I should have phrased that differently.
But seek out his off-stage interviews and you will see what I mean.

SO funny you were thinking of that movie. Definitely get it for you and the kids to watch, but will be kind of sad for me to see it now. My kids and I bought it maybe a year or two ago, but we watched it several times together. I had seen it pre-kids. Wow, can’t believe it came out in 1993. And it was maybe a week or two ago that my little girl had brought it up to me again. We hadn’t watched it in a while. She couldn’t remember the title of it and was wondering where the DVD was. Like you said, not earth shattering for us in our life, but still very sad to me.
I think of Oscar Levant and Jonathan Winters. Such remarkable comic genius....living on a tightrope.
His idol, Jonathan Winters suffered from depression.
Robin had been in and out of re-hab. He said he went recently even though he was clean and sober. He was grabbing for life lines. But, when someone makes up their mind to do it, there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
Why don’t you just read his word?
He and his apostles all said one must endure to the end.
.
What?
RIP.
A little too manic for my tastes, but a genius at literate stream of consciousness in his heyday.
“Anti-depressants usually cause one to do harm to others, not ones self. (every mass shooter has been on them)”
I think you’re the one who needs anti-depressants. Everything you have said on his thread has been a real downer. Why don’t you go find some religion thread to inflict yourself on. Plus you are a bundle of misconceptions and generalizations.
IMO, Awakenings was his best role. I love that movie.
I guess he didn’t learn a thing from his role in What Dreams May Come.
