Which applied to the interval BEFORE the Cross.
‘in cold blood’, would be my guess
Replacement theology has a crucial weakness, in that it fails to account for the obvious fact that the original Covenant was drawn up by one with total foreknowledge. Had said Covenant been meant to cover his future visitations to earth, and in different appearances/forms, it would have been so mentioned.
Not to worry, as that Covenant was meant for a specified group. Later ones were for others.
Just my opinion - after all, who am I to question, or parse words with, that particular author.
“Could be the start of a general left-wing intifada in this country.”
Muslims going “Full Intifada” in America would shortly thereafter motivate Americans to play the last and final game of ‘Cowboys & Muslims’.
My tag line summarizes the result of that game.
Nobody says you need a replacement theology to acknowledge that in the end, believing Jews will merge into the church universal.
That is kind of like trying to herd cats, or to put out burning oil with water. Except even more so. Islam is devil driven. It can laugh at the sword.
“Nobody says you need a replacement theology to acknowledge that in the end, believing Jews will merge into the church universal.”
Hardly likely, if history is any indication.
Another FReeper said it best, when the subject of enlargement of the synagogue was being discussed - “I’m not in favor of industrial strength religion”.
I’m an American, and as such see myself as a sovereign citizen with rights and responsibilities tracing back to the origins of Natural Law. Natural Law, IMHO, may be seen as human recognition of the inherent order in the universe - order apparent whether one believes it was created, always was, evolved. Whatever.
Whether one lives within that order or not is a central decision.
Whether a universal church would be as oppressive as huge churches were in the past is an interesting question, but given history and the nature of man, I am agin’ it.
Also, IMHO, that order insofar as human behavior is concerned, was best defined by the last six of the Ten Commandments.
An arrest has finally been made. One of Obama’s children. Not a Muslim, apparently.
