A Detroit jury ruled today that Theodore Wafer was guilty of murder in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Renisha McBride on his porch.
The jury, which consists of seven men and five women, began its deliberations on Wednesday after nine days of testimony.
Wafer, 55, is charged with second degree murder and manslaughter for shooting and killing McBride, 19, last November when the teenager showed up inebriated on his porch at 4:40 a.m. Wafer said he could only make out a figure around his house, said the person pounded on his door and made him fear for his life.

It takes a helluva lot more than “pounding on the door” to split the door jamb. You’d have to hit it with a battering ram. This guy clearly overreacted.
I’m a prepper, that fruit cake was part of my end of the world stock it looked incredibly durable and indestructible.
I’m glad he didn’t sue me over his eating it.
No, I didn't infer that she was a child. Nor did I imply that she was a child.
You have used the term "child" with reference to her. I referred to her as a "little girl" (see post 48). I guess I could have said "five foot four inch female," but I think little girl means pretty much the same thing.
Prepper here too. I have Spam, Twinkies and other items which I believe have more survivability than cockroaches but I never thought of fruitcake. I will add it to my stocks. Maybe for barter:) Actually I have had good fruitcake, but it probably would last more than a couple of weeks.
In the Army I was so desperate for calories that I was glad that no one else would eat their C-ration fruitcake, I had all I wanted.
You are misinformed. Most door jambs are made of 0.5in pine and attached to the 2x4s with 3/4 or 1 inch screws. The door can be kicked in with one strong kick next to the lock.
Chopped ham and eggs was my edge.
My mother was 5-11 her entire life. That didn’t make her a “little girl”.
Perhaps if you’d loosely followed the trial as I have, you’d have a bit more to work with
Sorry, I meant to say my mother was 4-11. Not exactly a “little girl”
Then why open the door?
Perhaps if youd loosely followed the trial as I have, youd have a bit more to work with
If your mother was 5-11 when she was 19, she was a "tall girl."
When your mother was 5-4, she was a "little girl." And, I'll bet she was a very nice little girl. After all, she grew up and had you. ;-)
Yeah what's this world coming to when they don't allow you to blow a unarmed teenager's head off? </sarcasm>
When your mother was 19, she was a nice little girl.
Apparently 12 people who actually heard the evidence disagree with you.
The Joe Biden defense has been tried and failed before.
When this case first happened, I read all I could about it.
My conclusion then is the same as now, man, that dude in A HEAP of trouble!
See post #53
A lot of people around here would like to make it another Trayvon Martin trial, too. The difference is that the Trayvon Martin case was self defense and this was not.
“Then why open the door?”
Don’t know! But it was brought up here yesterday. I wasn’t in court to hear all the evidence, so I’m really not qualified to answer your question. Locked storm/screen door maybe?
She also didn’t have a history of 4 DUIs, wrecking cars, beating on doors and windows of houses and knocking screen doors off their hinges
