(Newser) – The US is treating the American doctor who contracted Ebola, and isn't about to turn tail on the virus. "Ebola’s scary, and it’s understandable that with a deadly disease, people are concerned," says CDC director Tom Frieden, but for those who would have us turn victims away, "the plain truth is, we can stop Ebola. We know how to control it. We’re not going to hermetically seal the borders of the US. We’re reliant and interdependent with the world for travel, for trade, for the economy, for our families and communities." Frieden tells ABC, via Politico, that the CDC is sending 50 staffers to West Africa because, he says, "The single most important thing we can do to protect Americans is to stop this disease at the source in Africa."
What could go wrong?
The US took immense precautions just to transfer one victim to a highly secure isolation facility. Yet the US still allows commercial flights to and from the endemic areas in West Africa. This virus will not cause an epidemic in the US but if there is an endemic outbreak, this man will have to face the victims and take responsibility for his hubris.
Dr. Frieden speaks Spanish and graduated from Oberlin College. He received both his medical degree and master’s of public health degree from Columbia University and completed infectious disease training at Yale University. He has received many awards and honors and has published more than 200 scientific articles.
Well educated, but completely devoid of any common sense.

To seal borders against Ebola would require the willingness to close borders at all. Since the borders are open anyway, keeping out Ebola is not possible.

Forget this doctor ... this statement seems to suggest that people from places where ebola is rampant will still come here and they will not DISCRIMINATE entry based on point of origin. They can’t because it violates their idealogy of one world no borders communism
Some maintain that the earth can only support a population of 500 Million people. We are currently at an estimated 7 Billion, so someone has to go, according to the theory. Interestingly enough, I’ve never heard those advocating de-population volunteer themselves or their families, but I don’t doubt that Hussein 0bama, the antiCHRIST, and his followers are actively pursuing this goal. A pandemic would be just the thing for himto declare martial law.

The solution is simple to those of us who are enlightened. All that BIGGOV Inc. needs to do, is ban this Ebola virus, and it will stop it cold. I am sure that the House and Senate are working on bills right now to do this very thing. /SARC
Ebola would go thru the homosexual and drug abuser crowds faster than the ACLU can mount a lawsuit. Even lesbians who wouldn’t be exposed to AIDS normally would be at greater risk for this disease. PC politics is about to be smacked in the face with reality!
Ebola would threaten Dem voter groups to a much greater degree. Looking at the sex practices of homosexuals and progressives in general and the over all looser lifestyles of Democrats...Ebola would go thru them like hot knives thru butter. The next conspiracies will be about why conservatives didn’t get sick at the same rates as progressives did....maybe the Koch brothers will be blamed!(sarcasm on).

I’m probably in the minority here, but I don’t think ebola is a threat in the US now. Nor is it a threat now.

I wish those crooks and morons in DC were half as bright! As it is, very, very few of which have the people and Country's interest at heart.
If precautions aren’t taken, you will see catastrophic outbreaks in homosexual communities. Can you imagine the political fall-out of an outbreak in the Castro district in San Francisco, Pelosi’s home district? You’d be able to see a computer grid “fire trail” all lit up in terms of who’s been “doing whom” by lining up ebola cases with names. The ACLU won’t be able to file a lawsuit fast enough!
