The Department of Defense informed Congress that it has deployed biological diagnostics systems to National Guard support teams in all 50 states, according to a report published by the Committee on Armed Services. The report, published in April amid growing fears that the Ebola hemorrhagic fever virus might spread outside of West Africa, says that the portable systems are designed for low probability, high consequence scenarios.
Some 340 Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic System (JBAIDS) units have thus far been given to emergency response personnel. The systems are rapid, reliable, and [provide] simultaneous identification of specific biological agents and pathogens, says executive officer for the DODs Chemical and Biological Defense group Carmen J. Spencer.
The Chemical and Biological Defense Program has sharpened the DoD diagnostics portfolio by increasing the capability of our fielded system, some 340 of which have been provided to the Military Services.
The Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic System is a portable system capable of rapid, reliable, and simultaneous identification of specific biological agents and pathogens. By partnering with the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and the Food and Drug Administration, we have made accessible additional diagnostic assays for high consequence, low probability biological threat agents for use during declared public health emergencies.
This collaboration has facilitated the availability of viral hemorrhagic fever diagnostic assays for use during a declared emergency and adds previously unavailable preparedness capabilities to this fielded system.

Nah we were told our border is so secure.
Preppers’ PING!!
I wonder if terrorism is involved.
World War Z !!!
Now there’s a good reason to declare Martial Law, Ebola.
Ive been thinking about this for sometime since they found MERS in the air of a camel barn in Saudi while the Ebola outbreak was growing.
I don’t know if Ebola, MERS or something entirely different will lead to a SHTF event, but with the present Open border policy bringing in any number of communicable diseases and the real chance that some carriers could be sent here on purpose as ‘bio bombs’ it brings up a real possibility of extended quarantines being imposed. In fact it may get to a point in which a wise person will impose a quarantine on their family even if health officials dont.
There are more than a few FReepers who like to point out how silly they see preparing for a Mad Max situation is, but what if it isn’t Mad Max? What if it is something as simple as being able to shelter in place for 30-60 days while an outbreak runs its course? Could you make it through such a quarantine with what you have in your home? If you haven’t thought about it maybe its time.
As the LDS say When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.
And maybe that's why Obama is spreading illegals throughout the country by flying them to different cities. Just setting his master plan into motion.
Actually an outbreak would be a legit use of martial law, and probably the only effective way to control an outbreak....
No vaccine and no cure?
Mark
I was just eating sour gummy bears and accidentally inhaled a bit of juice.
Whew!
Almost as bad as inhaling tabasco or accidentally inhaling an alcoholic beverage.
OMG
Wish it would hurry up and turn into phlem, so I can get it out..
Might have to start eating in a bio/Chem getup.
At least to a degree. Statewide, ban air travel, regulate travel into and out of some areas, sure, some things are not just reasonable they're mandatory.
Nationally? No, if there's a real danger in more than a State and an adjoining State or so, it's already too late.
Nah we were told our border is so secure.
Yeah, that ebola victim on his way to the US was going to parachute into Mexico so he could sneak across the border.
Can you imagine what Ebola would do to the LGBT community? Getting married would be the least of their worries.
” A MAN has been tested for killer bug Ebola in Birmingham plunging Britain into high alert over the deadly virus.
He was rushed to hospital on Monday after feeling feverish on a flight back to the Midlands from Benin, Nigeria, via Paris. “
It doesn’t sound like much of a threat to Westerners.
And can you imagine a Zombie movie being played out in reality on city streets? This disease is spread by contact with blood, semen and stools. Right down the LGBT life-style playbook. They'll be wandering the streets vomiting everywhere, with heterosexual normal people running away from them in panic. They're scary enough without the disease. Yeah, I can imagine!
