Amid Israels Operation Protective Edge to stop Hamas attacks from Gaza, a Freedom Flotilla is being organized in Turkey to bring humanitarian aid to the Hamas-controlled Palestinian coastal enclave with the protection of the Turkish military, according to an unconfirmed media report.
The flotilla, called Freedom Flotilla II, is being organized by the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), the same organization that was behind the Mavi Marmara flotilla that sought to break Israels blockade of the Gaza Strip in May 2010.
Israel Navy commandos boarded the ship, were attacked, and killed nine of the attackers.

Why didn’t they bring humanitarian aid to Libya or Syria or Iraq?
If they have Turkish troops on board and do not stop when the Israeli Navy says to-- And if Israel uses force to stop them, will Obama support Israel or call for NATO to respond to an attack on Turkey?
The whole world... wonders--
If Turkey is directly aiding its operation with its Navy, that is a clear violation of the NATO charter. Turkey should be immediately expelled from NATO as a result.
Hmmm. I wonder what Rand Paul would do.
We are seeing his foreign policy ideas play out right now.
I see an opportunity for the Kurds.
Turkey is a member of NATO. I believe you are thinking about joining the European Union. It's been a rocky road for the EU and Turkey. They have started the admission process, but it is not yet complete as I understand it.
Don’t bet on it with soetoro at the US helm and all the anti Semites in EU.
Do you think Erdogan will buy a glass bottom boat like Galtieri did?
Sink em—send the whole convoy to Davy Jones Locker. Warn em first—give them the coice to turn back—and if they don’t...
Easy fix. Frogmen off a sub. Radio-controlled limpet mines on the hull of each vessel. Once the sub is clear, press the button. . . BOOM, to the bottom it goes.
Oh, and add shark ATTRACTANT packets to each hull as well. . .
Torpedoes? Deck Guns? The Israeli’s have a variety of means to stop these vessels. I hope they sink the lot of them.

...IHH is a member of the Union of the Good, an umbrella of 50+ Islamic organizations, which wasdesignated by the US government as an organization created by Hamas leadership to transfer funds to the terrorist organization
...According to a Danish research institute, the Turkish authorities investigated IHH in 1997 after receiving info that senior figures had purchased weapons from Islamic radicals. A police raid on an IHH building in Istanbul found weapons, explosives, and instructions for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
“I could be wrong on all these counts, but it seemed there was a push for Turkey to join something or other a few years back. I didnt think it went through.”
Yes, they’ve been a NATO member as they shared a long mountainous border with the Soviet Union and the US wanted listening posts there. The push you remember was for Turkey to join the EU. That failed.
Need to lay the problem at Turkey’s feet.
The Israeli navy should allow itself to be seen mining the waters off Gaza.
Then announce very publicly that those waters are thick will mines.
Let the flotilla sail at its own peril.
Probably not too many left! Erdogan purged the Turkish military leadership down through some junior officers. He knows that the military would pose a threat to his plans to destroy Turkey as a secular nation.
Why is Turkey still in NATO?
Okay. How does that dynamic change if Israel has to get tough with Turkey? NATO isn’t going to back Turkey, at least I would certainly hope not. So Vlad could get an opening to woo Turkey and Turkey may be susceptible to the wooing.
Thanks for the mention. I realize Turkey is a capable military concern. Israel would certainly be biting off a lot there. Turkey would be running an internationally recognized blockade though. It would be the offending party.
