In a story about President Barack Obama's potential executive actions, the Los Angeles Times suggested that illegal immigrants have a "right" to work permits even though that is not allowed under U.S. law.
The headline of the Los Angeles Times story about Obama potentially granting temporary amnesty and work permits to five million illegal immigrants blares, "White House pursuing plan to expand immigrant rights."
Last week on the Senate floor, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) blasted the Obama administration for declaring amnesty "as a civil right." Bewildered, Sessions, the former U.S. attorney, wondered how Attorney General Eric Holder could "assert that people have a Constitutional right to enter unlawfully and be given amnesty."
"That's an argument against the very idea of a nation state and the idea of a nation's borders," he continued. "Of course, there is and can be no civil right to enter a country unlawfully and then to demand lawful status and equal citizenship. Of course there is not."
He said the actual legal rights that are being violated are those of American citizens who have "sweat and bled and died for this country" and have "been called on to serve and responded, paid their taxes, raised their children, tried to do the right thing day after day."
"So what about their rights?" Sessions asked. "Will no one rise to their defense?"
Sessions, who has said that the Senate should not approve any border bill that does not preclude Obama from using federal funds to implement his potential executive actions, said proclaiming that amnesty is a civil right is "the kind of thinking that's got us into this fix, and it's encouraged the flow of unlawful immigration."

California - the land of fruits and nuts.
I remember growing up with California was one of the most admired states in the nation. My, how times have changed.
Right to work? As in they aren’t forced to join unions?
When was this?
What part of our Constitution and it’s bill of rights mentions “immigrant rights” ?
The Liberal mind, such as it is is a mysterious thing.
Where is this so called “civil right” covered and who is defending it to make sure it’s never taken away? It appears to me that the La La Times should be hiring all of these illegal alien invaders. After all, they have a “civil right” to work for the La La Times and be paid good money to do so. Just say no to drugs.
“How do liberals come up with these stupid conclusions?”
Easy. They just say it. And if it keeps getting repeated over and over and over again everybody gets used to it. Pretty soon, it becomes so common, nobody pays any attention and it becomes truth.
That’s how the whole fag thing happened.
Its not their civil right to make me pay for their damn food, clothing, housing, education, and healthcare. Especially when they’re not having to pay taxes, taking our jobs, overpopulating our cities, and overwhelming our educational and healthcare systems and bankrupting our nation. Especially when I have to pay more than my fair share of taxes and the new infernal Obamanation of Obamcare that has such high deductibles it won’t pay $hit unless I need catastrophic care and in that case they’ll try to pull the plug o the don’t even have to pay the claim. Welcome to the New America, Comrades...
Illegal aliens have the civil right to be deported and any belongings of positive worth be sold to pay for the expenses of deportation.
What Rights do Americans have these days?
They want the low cost labor provided by illegals and the ability to control them.
The only people really hurt by illegals from Central America are the other illegals from Central America. They’ll be competing for the same jobs, and the newer ones will work even more cheaply than the older ones. So, more under-the-table construction workers, more house-cleaners, more valets and busboys, more manual labor. I mean, it’s not like they’re replacing the computer programmers in Silicon Valley or the Asian and Indian doctors over at Cedar Sinai, or the white folks in the entertainment industry. An influx of Latinos mostly just hurts and crowds the Latinos who are already here. I’m not trying to be mean, I’m just telling it like it is.
Could the liberals at the LAT be bothered to delineate just what “right” that is that they speak of?
They have a civil right to move into your living room.
In fact, there is nothing the hard-working, productive sector of the US doesn’t owe to every diseased miscreant that is brazen enough to claim it.
Those that have never performed productive effort are at war with those who create value. They despise us for having worthwhile accomplishments!
“Obama potentially granting temporary amnesty and work permits to five million illegal immigrants”
LA Times nonsense to one side for the moment, if the Congress wants to continue to be a coequal branch of government, and not a Rump parliament, it had better sit on Steve Urkel if Jarrett rolls the dice and pulls this chit.
The gallant Sessions is apparently the only one who will rise to our defense.
