GAZA CITY, Gaza — The militant group that rules the Gaza Strip asked for a cease-fire hours after Israel resumed attacks on the enclave. An Israeli army spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner did not say if Israel would hold fire during, adding that troops would continue demolishing militant tunnels.
And during an appearance on NBC's Meet The Press, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Hamas had not kept to any ceasefire agreement.
"We’ve accepted five ceasefires — Hamas has rejected every single one of them," he said.
Artillery fire and air strikes punctuated Israel's earlier announcement that it would resume fighting in Gaza, shattering a fragile peace that had allowed many Palestinians to search the rubble of their homes.

I believe Israel has been hoodwinked into being too ‘sweet’ at times... by a world community that’s not all it should be... there’s reasons...
Jews were like orphans for much of history. Other kids could bully them because ‘other kids’ had a ‘big father at home who would kick butt... Jews didn’t have that advantage - the advantage of having a home country. So they learned other skills to survive. Those skills were important but have been working against them in their dealings with the Palestinians...
Israel needs to kill all the Hamas leadership, destroy all their weapons, take out tunnels, destroy the infrastructure that supports Hamas. But NO, they don’t need to kill Palestinian civilians.
Mutually assured destruction’s a good idea too. If Israel gets nuked, places like Iran need to understand they’ll be destroyed. Israel needs to let the world know they’re all grown up, a serious world leader player, and a force NOT to be messed with...
Oh, and they need to be polite to John Kerry in a dismissive but pleasant way... ‘Yes, John - we’ll sit down for coffee and have a nice chat soon... right now we’re too busy fighting a war... maybe next week...
I am in agreement, and I don’t think most people would want a wholesale slaughter of the enemy unless that enemy was determined to the point of fighting to the last man, woman and child.
I think of WW2 Japan in this aspect and their mindset, not just the mindset of their leaders (such as Germany).
In the end, the populace supports the war machine of the combatants and in that sense are not so “innocent”, but they don’t need to be the primary target, although their factories that churn out weapons absolutely should be, along with the other logistical entities.
Forcing them to lose their will to fight does not have to incorporate genocide, but no matter how horrible war is, particularly when you are attempting to REALLY win, you MUST put the fear of eradication into the populace in order to change their predisposed mindset.
That lesson was learned in our past on a few occasions and seems to have been cast off in favor of “winning hearts and minds”. Stupid change. The hearts and minds you are winning weren’t the ones who were directly fighting you in the first place.

It has also been revealed that the whole tunnel issue in the current round of fighting were to be used as a Mega-Terror attack (9/11 style) on all of Israel's southern communities (probably killing many thousands) on Rosh Ha Shana, the Jewish New Year. So...I ask, why not hit their mosques during Ramadan?
This time around, the Israelis hit wherever they knew there were weapons stores, including hospitals, schools and holy places. What can you do?
Muslims blow up each others mosques. Muslims behead innocents. Muslims mutilate women, Muslims massacre their own on a daily basis so where are the international protests against all the violence throughout the Arab world? They have the gaul to ask for a cease fire due to their “Ed Il Fitar” holiday?????
