Bald faced wasps. I was on antibiotics for weeks after one followed me into the house and bit me once on the foot. My foot turned purple and swelled up so much that I couldn’t wear a shoe.
I should have said “bald faced hornets”.
You had best get yourself an Epi-Pen and keep it nearby at all times from now on...................
You ever check out the ingredients in it. something like 10% alcohol.
While in high school I was lounging on the porch one day with no shirt. I had the cat laying on my stomach and I felt something crawling on my neck. As I slapped my neck the cat was startled and flexed her claws into my stomach as the yellow jacket that I had just slapped stung my neck. To this day I despise yellow jackets. And I’m not a big fan of cats either.
I have been very lucky as far as wasps and bees go, BUT there is a fly that has yellow wings, that really causes nasty swelling when it stings/bites me. Not sure but we locally call them strawberry flies. They are out all summer in my part of the country (South Jersey) Even worse then pine flies.
I probably should.
yuck
They are small and no more bigger than a Sharpie. Easy to use. ...
Do they require a prescription?
Do you mean mud dobbers? I’ve been told they don’t sting, however, I was stung and I’m guessing their muddy stinger gave a huge infection.
Canada Ping!
That's the main reason I had mine removed....red wasps.
Ya'll bedder git WASPer insurance!!!
Dreadful. RIP.
My daughter’s was 20 years or so ago, then yes. I don’t know about today, though..............
I love my palm trees, so I’ll just keep trimming until they are too tall to be a bother.
One trick:
Spray them with the water hose FIRST. Get the stream on the UNDERSIDE of the fronds, where the wasp nests are. If you see a bunch of wasps suddenly fly out, then get the insecticide spray and use accordingly.
I once grabbed a frond to cut with the loppers and suddenly my whole hand felt like I had just grabbed ahold of a live electrical wire. I knew immediately what it was and have been extra careful ever since.................
