In a recent confrontation between protesters against the illegal flood of unaccompanied children into the United States and counter-protests by some Hispanic group, one man from the latter group said angrily, "We are as good as you are!"
One of the things that make the history of clashes over race or ethnicity such a history of tragedies around the world is that regardless of whatever particular issue sets off these clashes many people see the ultimate stakes as their worth as human beings. On that, there is no room for compromise, but only polarization. That is why playing "the race card" is such an irresponsible and dangerous political game.
The real issue when it comes to immigration is not simply what particular immigration policy America should have, but whether America can have any immigration policy at all.
A country that does not control its own borders does not have any immigration policy. There may be laws on the books, but such laws are just meaningless words if people from other countries can cross the borders whenever they choose.
One of the reasons why many Americans are reluctant to keep out illegal immigrants or even to call them "illegal immigrants," instead of using the mealy-mouthed word "undocumented" is that most Hispanics they encounter seem to be decent, hard-working people.
This column has pointed out, more than once, that I have never seen Mexicans standing on a street corner begging, though I have seen both whites and blacks doing so.
But such impressions are no basis for deciding serious issues about immigration and citizenship. When we do not control our own borders, we have no way of knowing how many of those coming across those borders are criminals or even terrorists.

Bump.
Whether they pan handle or not isn’t the point. Maybe that can’t be helped.
BUT when you DO find employment ... DO YOU PAY YOUR SHARE of taxes?
THAT’S the issue.
Show me the place where I can go and work without ever paying taxes and I’ll go home now and START PACKING!!!
It's true. Mexicans work - they don't beg. But Mexicans also create countries heavy with worthless elites.. Mexican liberal elites don't do crap beyond oppress their hard working citizens - and fight to abolish any middle class... which is why hard working Mexicans want to escape to here.
But I'll give him credit for this: If you go back even 40 years ago when there were actually some border controls, the slackards didn't even bother to sneak in because their was no bennies waiting for them.
That all changed when Libtard judges decreed that illegals had the same "rights" to freebies distributed by the state as do legals and citizens.
Agreed, and their governments are corrupt from the top down to the lowest bureaucratic official.
This is where the analogy breaks down.
The ants are not to blame because they are instinct-driven insects.
The people from Central America who are coming here are not ants; they have free will and make choices. They are to blame for willfully breaking our laws. They know what they're doing. They are not refugees coming from violent certain death, as some Democrats have suggested.
Yes, they are pawns in a movement that was pre-planned six months ago between Obama and his like-minded counterparts in other countries, but they are definetly not blameless.

If we are no better, then why are there not equal numbers trying to move in each direction?
When you bring up such a concept, and facts or logic do not support the conclusion, it might be better to take a more truthful approach, such as this — we want to invade your country and take it over. Then see how many people support “immigration reform” or whatever this invasion is conveniently called.

“We are asgo das you.”
Then no problem create a country like ours in your home nation.
Am I to assume by your post that you are not an American citizen?
MFLR.
Your assumption is wrong and you’re avoiding answering the question.
First of all, you didn’t ask me a question, therefore I’m avoiding nothing.
You said I am allowing invaders to illegally enter the country instead of we, so you make yourself sound like an outsider.
And as another poster commented, ants are instinct driven insects, not free-willed thinking human beings. Therefore your analogy doesn’t work.
From your posts you are blaming American citizens for a foreign invasion instead of the invaders. Which makes you sound like a liberal, or a proud member of the GOP.
Sometimes compassion gets out of hand. Such as when there is more concern for the well being of the fleas than the dog they infest.
lol
Kill fleas or just inconvenience them so they move on??
lol
This battle is lost when the left successfully convinces Hispanic this is a race issue. We can’t even talk about race unless you happen to be of the same race, otherwise they always presume(as racist themselves) that your trying to attack or devalue them personalty.
That is why the left is so fond of the race card, it gets them power and armies without question or other values. As long as they control the media and can maintain that narrative and teach it in the schools as they do. They have an entire race of hate driven political slaves.
This is how the black community are functional slaves of the Democratic party. At every level this is what theses people are taught to live and breave. Anyone who tries to focus on anything else is attacked and removed. In the name of political greed the Democratic party has destroyed the family and couture of African Americans by making them little more than dependent political slaves.
The DNC has robed them of their ambition with lessons of hopelessness, they have robed African Americans of their drive to succeed with easy handouts(which of course come with a political price). The DNC has robed African American’s of their independent mind with the hostile demands of a conformist culture to reinforce this notion and way of life Because its members feel they now depend upon it.
This will end in one of two ways:
1: African Americans will recognize the nature of their enslavement and split off from the Democratic party masters in rebellion.
2: The well will run dry and the welfare and education system that supports this couture will collapse thus forcing African Americans as a whole to start providing for themselves again independent of what they can uses the State to take from the rest of us.
If we can cut them off # 2 will be the forced result with a possibility of using a religious and historical carrot to inspire African American leaders to lead a Revolution in their own community. Thus #1 which is the only solution to #2 anyway.
Thus ultimately that is what we are talking about here. The African American community needs new revolutionary leader to teach them about self-reliance and responsibility again. Only leaders like that will ever liberate them from the effective slavery they now suffer from.
I’ve been to the market in El Paso near the int. bridge, and I didn’t see any beggars. But when I crossed over into Juarez, I sure saw quite a few. I’ll bet those Juarez beggars made it across the border.
It's democrats who are putting out the welcome mat... because democrat's ideas are so 'anti-American' that if they don't import new democrats they won't get re-elected.
The problem is most Hispanics are hard working and thoughtful. In three generations they'll be Republicans... and we'll get the last laugh.
The voice of sanity.
