It was bad enough that the alleged rape took place in the sanctity of a mosque and that the accused man was a mullah who invoked the familiar defence that it had been consensual sex.
But the victim was only 10 years old. And there was more: The authorities said her family members openly planned to carry out an honour killing in the case – against the young girl. The mullah offered to marry his victim instead.
This past week, the awful matter became even worse. On Tuesday, local policemen removed the girl from the shelter that had given her refuge and returned her to her family, despite complaints from women’s activists that she was likely to be killed.
The case has broader repercussions. The head of the Women for Afghan Women shelter here where the girl took refuge, Dr. Hassina Sarwari, was at one point driven into hiding by death threats from the girl’s family and other mullahs, who sought to play down the crime

Honour killings in rape cases are common in Afghanistan, and are often more important to the victim’s family than vengeance against the attacker. Human rights groups say about 150 honour killings a year come to light, and many more probably go unreported.

Western minds stumble over the nuance of Muslim reason. The little girl is obviously a demon sent to corrupt the holy man.
Children are less than slaves in the world of Islam. The incident where little Saudi girls ran out of a burning boarding school in their night clothes, only to be sent back in by the religious police epitomizes Muslim morality. Islamic virtue determined it was better to let those little girls burn to death than to have them tempt Muslim perverts. Islamic hierarchy values religious leaders, terrorist leaders, influential Muslim men and camels. Everyone and everything else is as disposable as yesterday’s garbage.

NOPE. It wouldn’t work. For one the child was totally innocent and likely didn’t even fully understand sex. Second of all the relatives would simply see what was happening to them as in injustice inflicted on them for no reason at all. I’m sure of it. I mean really...these are people who are cool with “honor killing” a little girl. They’re not capable of empathy.

Obama and George Bush should also have a few thousand copies of this sickening article sent to them, since obviously they lied about Islam to the American people. These uncivilized evildoers should not be allowed in our country.

I’m rather confused at why they don’t shed the blood of the rapist instead. But then again I am not Muslim.
There is so much wrong with this issue.
If Muslims were truly decent people, like the propaganda tells us they are, there would be worldwide Islamic rage.
This issue is so revolting that it should overcome all levels of fear, apathy or ignorance amongst all Muslims. A lack of action in this case is implicit acceptance. There is no excuse otherwise.
I am anticipating silence, total silence, from ALL Muslims worldwide. The forthcoming silence tells volumes about Islam.
