Keeping an anaconda as a pet is simply beyond insanity. On par with keeping a grizzly bear or a Great White shark as a pet.

Officials were afraid that if it came out that the snake was an anaconda it would cause mass hysteria. Such official policy does not belong in a free republic. And what would the "mass hysteria" be? Keeping children out of the lake, sounds like a good idea to me.

He estimates that the anaconda is 15 to 16 feet long, about the length of a car. Its head is nearly the size of human's. Holy crap. A snake (ANY snake) anywhere NEAR that size on my property would be 'introduced' to a 12 gage shotgun, and possibly a .357 magnum, in very short order.
