Much smaller, poorer countries are opening their gates for refugees from violence-torn parts of the world. Why can't we do the same?
Maybe we should just send the Statue of Liberty back where it came from.
That long-and-much-beloved iconic statue, standing in New York Harbor, greeting immigrants by the tens of thousands, is inscribed with Emma Lazarus poem: Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses, yearning to breath free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door. Our beloved Lady Liberty has been a beacon of hope for millions of people seeking a better life.
The first human being to come through Ellis Island was an unaccompanied minor. Her name was Annie Moore, and a statue of her (and her two younger brothers) now stands on that tiny piece of hope in New York Harbor, along with one of her in Ireland, from whence she came. Thousands of unaccompanied minors followed her through Ellis Island.
But these days, with unprecedented numbers of children reaching our border with Mexico, many in Congress would have you believe that we are dealing with barbarians at the gate, rather than children seeking refuge from violence in their home countries...

It seems the left never wants the full message of Lady Liberty. Unless the left can establish that this invasion is a desire to shake off their socialist ways and be assimilated into America with all the effort and responsibilities that implies;then they are supporting a hostile invasion by a foreign power.
I recognize that the latter is exactly what Obama and his ilk are seeking.
This man is an idiot.
Next to Lady Liberty is Ellis Island. Those people came here legally.
Bishop Vicky Robinson — a perfect picture of what is wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong in America.
Emma Lazarus wrote poetry, not policy. And that was back in the late 19th century, when America was still largely wilderness and there was no wlefare state, islamic terrorism, or MS13. Besides, Liberty welcomes all LEGAL immigrants, not every creature who can stagger to our border.
But why am I wasting my time responding to the maudlin ramblings of a fake priest?
Keep the statue. Take the plaque with that wretched Lazarus poem off and deep six it.
Uhhh, that's not exactly a place you really want to send kids.
“Robinson was elected bishop coadjutor in 2003”.
Should read coagitator.
Send it back? No! Send this puke to France oui! He’d do well when the Islamists take over France - not!
If my memory serves me correct, that poem was placed at the Statue about twenty years afterward. The Statue originally had nothing to do with immigration, but liberty.
That was from a time when we as a People still believed in common sense.
If we haven’t been taken over by the Forces of Darkness, perhaps we’ll so believe again someday.
The poem was written in1883, but was not added to “Liberty Lighting the World” until 1903.
Just another homosexual playing make-believe dress up.
This is far different from those who are coming knowing that they will be taken care of by the US government. Would you send your kids to cross Mexico in the hands of the "coyotes" if you knew that if they got into the US there would be no one to take care of them, no free medical care, no shelters, no schools etc. and they would just be living on the streets?
Doesn't sound right.
...before he brings Kenya to the U.S.
1. The "children" are not fleeing due to violence.
2.They are invading because they've been told, that they can stay (and receive all the welfare state goodies) and eventually amnesty.
3. If they were fleeing due to violence, the bordering countries should help the refugees and the US would also supply funds, so to allow the refugees to return home as soon as conditions allow. On the contrary, the Government of Mexico is aiding the invaders pass through Mexico to enter the US. This is an aggressive act against Americans.
The Bishop is an ignorant fool, not surprisingly, he looks the part.
