Maximum restraint? I’d say no restraint at all, give it every thing you’ve got as long as the rocket attacks continue. The IDF should move out and take/occupy any territory used as a launch site. Not temporarily, as a permanent security buffer zone. Eventually the attacks might stop if Hamas grows a brain. Or, more likely, eventually they will be pushed back out of range.

You'll note the media only reports palestinian deaths, with no breakdown. They're all presumably civilians. I've yet to see an article indicating Israel has killed terrorists. Or insurgents, or militants. If there's any specificity, it's always women and/or children. Either Israel has the most incompetent military in history, or the press is dishonest.
Gaza is a hellhole because the denizens of Gaza have made it so.
