The slow American withdrawal from world affairs has been apparent for a long time, but has never been so glaringly evident as this week in the Middle East.
Hamas is at war with Israel, the brutal struggle in Syria frustrates the world, the terrorists of ISIS are making serious progress in Iraq and now another attempt to deprive Iran of nuclear weapons has, so far, been thwarted.
The United States has a position of sorts in each of these arenas, but its not powerful in any of them. American influence has faded.
The worlds governments no longer worry as much as they once did about what Washington wants, partly because Washington doesnt know what it wants. U.S. policy has become erratic and half-hearted, subject to arbitrary change without notice.
Barack Obama, who apparently distrusts American power, personifies this approach. He moves capriciously from subject to subject. One week hes furious about Syria and announces that Bashar al-Assad has to go. When Assad doesnt go, Obama loses interest. He seems always to be making a fresh start. When hes not doing that, hes pivoting, shifting his interest from one continent to another. He seems detached much of the time, then committed, then detached again.

“Im afraid our only option is to hunker down and wait him out.”
How the majority of Americans can come to the conclusion Hillary Clinton is the answer to all this is way beyond me. She helped lay the groundwork for it.
Not indifference, I don’t think. All planned.
Remember, pre-election, pic of Obama’s reading a book about “A Post-American World” or something like that?
He read the book and said to self, “Here is the roadmap for my presidency - make the world a ‘Post-America’ world....” “Take America down about 10 notches.”
That was original plan anyway - the book just gave him the path. The book and Valerie Jarrett........
“Were an Empire in decline. It happens to all of them.”
We are most assuredly that.
Often I reflect on how blessed I am to have lived in America’s last surges of greatness.. the heady days of the Reagan era and the fleeting moments of unity after 9/11. America had a great and noble run in her day.
Agreed
Well America got its Negro community organizer out of Chicago and he is performing about as well as as one would expect a person with such credentials to perform.
Yankee go home...?
Meh....!
Okay...
Leftist worldwide wanted a diminished America. Now they have it and the world is burning and slipping towards the abyss of a new world war. Happy now, socialist dipsh*ts?!? (of course they are...they think they’ll survive what comes next.)
“... America got its Negro community organizer out of Chicago and he is performing about as well as as one would expect a person with such credentials to perform.”.....
We have more problems right here in American and he can’t be interrupted from his golf, vacations and fund raisers to address any of those problems.
The consequences of having elected an enemy islamist to the Presidency.
You give him too much credit. So much time and money (our money) has gone into setting this up that anyone could have pulled off the last act.
America has been dumbed down to a ringtone, most can't get beyond a tweet. Just the way it is.
Perhaps he is unable to address American problems. (Though I admit that there are some, who with good reason, believe his administration wills the adverse results-even to the point of destroying our nation.)
The problem isn't that he is lazy or not paying attention.
No, it's just the opposite. He is aiding and abetting and a conspirator in foisting these problems upon us!
