Excerpted from Campus Reform: The town of Salem, Mass., has pitted itself against Gordon College after the president of the private Christian school added his name to a public letter to President Obama asking for a religious exemption from a planned federal mandate.
The expected executive order would force any organization receiving federal funds, including religiously based organizations, to hire people whose sexual conduct may not fall in line with their beliefs. Gordon says the mandate would be an infringement on religious liberty and the rights of faith-based institutions to establish a set of standards and expectations for their community.
Gordons statement of faith and conduct defines marriage as the lifelong one-flesh union of one man and one woman. It also clarifies that the school is against homosexual acts, not same-sex orientation, and claims that it expects its students and faculty to refrain from any sexual intercourseheterosexual or homosexual; premarital or extramaritaloutside of the marriage covenant.

Christians need to leave Mass or face imprisonment.
Miskatonic University is more their speed.
town’s full of witches
Time to burn the true witches of Salem.
There are two sins here. One is receiving federal funds. Stop taking federal funds and you won't have the second sin.
Thoughtcrime.
The shadows begin to gather, and do not bring restful dreams at night.
Exactly. There are Christian colleges who will not take any federal funds, including Stafford and Parent PLUS loans. Grove City is one. Hillsdale, I believe, is another. Students who attend who require loans, must obtain them through private institutions.
if you accept their money, you can’t complain when they tell you how you should spend it
the solution is simple... STOP ACCEPTING FEDERAL MONEY
while you’re at it, minimize any taxes you send.
starving the beast works very well
Salem Mass?
Plus ça change, plus même chose.
The ancient eldritch horror still lurks in the shadows.
Well, Salem = Arkham in Lovecraft’s fictional world so it makes sense that Cthulhu would be running things there.
I did some work at Gordon. I found it to be an interesting school that took a bit of getting used to. Most Yankees are pretty private when it comes to religion—and Gordon is very up front about it.
After a few days, I found it refreshing and I enjoyed going there.
I think it’s stupid for the town to impose their religious views on such a positive environment.
But that’s what liberals do.
Yep. The days when Christian entities could consider themselves citizens in good standing with the American government are dead and gone, and if you take their gold, you dance to their tune. Same with public K-12 schooling. There aren’t many institutions I would trust with my kids these days, including a whole lot of religious schools. I would trust myself and my husband, and homeschool. I have an idea that in the coming days, sound Biblical grounding may be more important than “higher” education anyway, especially such as it is now.
Supposedly Obama announced he “would sign an order to protect gay, lesbian and transgender workers against hiring discrimination, regardless of the employers religious affiliation” and mayor Kim Driscoll of Salem has a “swear jar” reaction to Beck’s The Blaze:
>>For every person from out of state that would call to angrily disapprove of her stance against Gordons discriminatory practices, shed donate $5 to the North Shore Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth.

Driscoll says she’s been getting angry calls from out of state, and the issue has been featured on “right wing blogs and websites”.
Salem btw profits greatly over having been the site (well actually maybe _Danvers_, aka Salem Village, was) of the Witch Trials. Everyone from families to booze swilling college students “stops by for a spell” in Salem...
Salem News:
>> Mayor Kim Driscoll pledged Wednesday to donate $5 to a local organization for gay and lesbian youths for every out-of-state phone call she receives condemning her decision to terminate the citys contract with Gordon College.
>>Her pledge came in response to a barrage of phone calls, many of them from Texas, which she believes were spurred by postings on conservative websites around the country. The out-of-state calls began just before noon on Wednesday. By late afternoon Thursday, the mayors office had logged 83 calls. A majority of those came in an initial wave out of Texas, all using a nearly identical script, Chief of Staff Dominick Pangallo said in an email.
don’t accept Federal funds
problem solved
They should change their School uniforms to include a giant Red Letter A on them, shame the idiot town.
We’ve moved officially into a tyrannous form of Oligarchical government.
The day liberty died.
