HOUSTON -- The immigration crisis is touching nerves in every pocket of America. That includes the city of Houston.
"Don't bring them here," said Bernadette Lancelin. "We don't have anything for them. They've taken too much already from my kids."
Lancelin sounded off when she learned officials had been touring a vacant Houston school a possible site to house immigrant children. Mayor Annise Parker tackled questions on the situation Wednesday.
"We have not been asked by the federal government to provide housing for immigrant children," said Parker. "Terrell Elementary School could be repurposed but at this point, it's not the preferred solution."
So what is the preferred solution for the flood of children flocking to the United States? So far no one has the answer. Lawmakers briefed Wednesday learned it costs the government $200 per day, per child and the tab keeps growing.
"Its a figure that I thought was shocking and in the whole room you heard the murmuring and shock of the costs associated with this," said Senator Marco Rubio.
"Ultimately, there have to be some consequences associated with coming into this country," said Senator John Cornyn.

That’s exactly what it is. Anarchy pure and simple.
What’s really disturbing is that we have vets that can’t get a dime out of Washington, and all of a sudden we’re got unlimited bucks to burn off on foreign nation children.
There are many needs in our own nation, for our own people. And the pricks in Washington couldn’t be clearer about saying, “F-— you!”, to the American public.”
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve had enough of this s—t!
Liberals who are generous with other people's time and money generally turn a blind eye until it affects them directly and in the here and now.
So Bernadette, are you just waking up now?
That is pretty much how I feel. And I know there is little we can do to stop this.
It’s a huge power grab to buy votes. And will probably be the nail in this country’s coffin.
I can’t read too many articles about this nightmare. My head explodes.
That's $73,000.00 per year, to put matters into an even more galling perspective.
They’ll still vote DEM, they just don’t like illegals getting a slice of their pie.
Traditional Democrat constituencies have gotten cuckolded here.
Barack’s options here seem to be limited to throwing more sops their way, but we’re running out of sops.
If the GOP got some lights turned on, they could take advantage of this.
The plundering monster ends up plundering everybody.
I’m tickled to watch it. It’s like seeing the sorcerer’s apprentice finally overwhelmed with the magic brooms.
Of course they could & should but with Boehner/RINO’s at the helm, GOP response will be the usual - crickets.
These children really belong to China.
Because we are running huge federal budget deficits already!
We will be borrowing more money from China to support these
illegal underage arrivals.
If anything does it, it will be independent effort. It cannot care about the figureheads at the helm.
Send um to China... that would stop the influx right quick.
Dear Bernadette Lancelin,
Go &*#^%&#*^ yourself. How did you vote, by the way?
Thanks (for nothing)

Mass Exportations. We’ve got enough illegals now to make them our number one export for quite some time. Might equal out our trade imbalance at least. I rather like the idea. Sell all 30 million of them (since the last amnesty) to China.
I’ve come to the conclusion this entire border crash is nothing but a front for theft and money laundering. So called charities are raking in the doe. And I guarantee at least half of it is being kicked back to politicians and well connected rich people.
They came up with the plan to bring “kids” in as refugees so they could “grant” millions to charities. I’d like to know when these charities were chartered. I’ll bet some of them was fairly recent.
The question is where does the $200 a day go? I’ll bet only a few dollars get to the kid’s welfare.
As it turns out, they...aren't...charities!
They're money-laundering non-profits in the liberal daisy chain of "non-governmental organizations".
