Israeli naval commandos fought Hamas gunmen in a dramatic beach front firefight on Sunday after Israel attempted the first boots-on-the ground operation of its ongoing offensive in Gaza.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, later warned that the military operation, that has so far killed 166 Palestinians, could gone on for a "long time".
The early morning clash broke out after Hamas militants – alerted by a lookout stationed in a nearby mosque – intercepted Israeli special forces trying wade ashore at Sudaniya in northern Gaza.
The two sides engaged each other in the sea, according to one witness account, in two hours of shooting that left four Israeli troops wounded. The Israeli military said the mission had achieved its goal of destroying rocket launching sites near the beach.
The amphibious landing came after as Israeli reservists massed along the Gaza land frontier with tanks and artillery fire for a possible ground invasion following six days of aerial bombardment.

I thought 400 milion seemed a little much except that’s the combined population of the twenty-two nation members of the Arab League reaching from North Africa to Iraq.

This article reads like muslims are SHOCKED that Israel shoots back at them. They hide behind their pregnant women and their kids as they lob rockets at the enemy they have sworn to exterminate.
Not all of the Old Testament prophesies have been fulfilled. In Ezekiel 37:23-28 God promises to restore Israel forever, while there will no longer be any apostasies.
That did not happen when the exiled Jews returned from Babylon, where they dwelt during the time of that prophesy, as they were occupied by Rome and then scattered again. And the current state of Israel is nothing like the prophesy describes either, so IMHO that prophesy still has not been fulfilled, but many people believe the current state of Israel is the one described in the prophesy.
As to how the prophesy will be fulfilled, one can only speculate, and my Bible tells me not to bother trying to anticipate prophesies, but only to recognize them when they come to pass.
My conclusion: Every enemy that displaces Israel ends up losing in the long run, but in the meantime they are used by God to discipline Israel. So I would thus advise any entity that has animosity toward the state of Israel to abandon hope of possessing that land, as God has special interest in the geography and the children of Jacob that never bodes well for anyone else.
