How could someone filled with such promise plunge so far, so fast? How does one go from national icon to national laughingstock?
Thats exactly what has happened to Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee.
Once arguably the GOPs most charismatic celebrity, Palin is now better known for thriving in this role of right wing shock jock as Nicolle Wallace, a former senior adviser for the John McCain-Palin campaign, now puts it.
Its a far cry from Sept. 3, 2008, when Palin, then the largely unknown Alaska governor, confidently strode onto the stage at the Republican National Convention as McCains running mate and introduced herself to the world. It was a breakthrough moment supporters saw in her a political outsider, a feisty advocate for conservative values, and a hockey mom with five children (including one son on his way to fight in Iraq and another born with Down syndrome).
On the campaign trail, Palin electrified voters portraying herself up as governor who stood up to special interests, lobbyists, big oil companies and the good-ol boys network. And to the delight of the partys base voters, she painted then-Democratic nominee Barack Obama, as an out-of-touch elitist who had nothing to offer but empty promises....

In 1999, she moved to Florida to serve as Governor Jeb Bushs press secretary and then became the Communications Director for the Florida State Technology Office in 2000.[2] Wallace worked on the 2000 Florida election recount.[3]

Wallace is a political commentator regularly featured on television news programs.[6]
In February 2013, Wallace publicly supported legal recognition for same-sex marriage in an amicus brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court.[14]
White House novel series[edit]
She is the author of the 2010 novel Eighteen Acres (a reference to the 18 acres on which the White House complex sits),[15] a fictional narrative about three powerful women at the top of their careers the first female U.S. President, her chief of staff and a White House correspondent. Wallace said, Its my best attempt at a story that I hope people will pick up and read and enjoy and maybe feel like theyre getting to see what its really like in the White House in this entirely fictional story.[16]
Eighteen Acres received praise from several sources and across the political spectrum. The Washington Post book reviewer wrote: "To say that Nicolle Wallace's 'Eighteen Acres' is one of the best novels I've read about life in the White House may be faint praise -- there haven't been many good ones -- but her book is both an enjoyable read and a serious look at what high-level political pressures do to people."[17] USA Today said "Nicolle Wallace actually knows what she's talking about"[18] and The New York Times called the book "an engaging, easy read."[19] TV personalities such as George Stephanopoulos,[20] Rachel Maddow,[21] John King,[22] and Andrea Mitchell[23] also praised Eighteen Acres.
In September 2011, Wallace published the sequel to Eighteen Acres, It's Classified, about a fictional presidential campaign troubled by a mentally-ill vice presidential candidate.[24] Wallace said the premise was inspired by her experience as a Senior Adviser to the McCain/Palin campaign.[25]

I’m not laughing. Except at Wallace
And their still writing about Palin. Laughingstock? From folks on the left maybe. But they don’t count, they have a brain disease called liberalism.
So when was Sarah high on Nichole’s list? Before she was nominated for VEEP, riiight.
Oh, yeah, there’s a poll to FReep there, too.
Team Romney uses Nicole Wallace as surrogate to
attack Gov. Palin.
Like, Mississippi, Like ObamaCARE,
Like all protections of Obama,
Romney, BAIN and Soros are behind it.
Sarah “stands alone” for now in the political world but not for long. As we have and will stand with her as she stands with us. The Calvary is being called, who’s on board?
Gee MSNBC, if Sarah Palin is so irrelevant, why are you wasting your time talking about her..gee libs show us everyday who they are terrified of..and LOL Nicole Wallace..that chick is a LOSER
Like Charlie Brown with the football, the establishment class never learns.
Read the book. It’s really, really, bad. I mean BAD!
What a surprise, MSLSD or as Rush likes to call it “PMSNBC”. Yes, Sarah is a “National laughing stock” as if their God Obama is a pillar of respect.
They are so terrified of Palin
Absolutely correct. Both sides (repub and democ) fear Sarah because they know Sarah's Army are the Silent that vote, obey the law, and see their lives, their children's lives and their grandchildren's lives being threatened and harmed by both sides. Both sides are arming themselves because they know a fight is coming. Both sides are interested only in holding onto power for themselves and their families. Sarah's Army sees this and has been organizing quietly. Scares both side when Sarah walks amongst her Army.
Yet they are still talking about her.
BFL to Freep that poll!
Sounds like an MSNBC wet dream. It doesn't surprise me it was written by a GOP operative.
So Aliyah, remind again me who’s controlling this particular narrative right now?
What state were you governor of, Aliyah? Which major political party made you their vice presidential candidate? Which countries have invited you to speak to their movers & shakers? Which world leaders have you met with? Which state energy commission did you chair? How many political miscreants have you sent to prison? How do you poll for the 2016 nomination?
Really, I can’t even read this, but really - coming from the people who did their utmost to destroy her?
It counts for a victory for Palin and a loss for them that she didn’t jump off some bridge in Alaska after the way she and her CHILDREN were treated.
Now, she has gobs of money and retains her many dedicated fans.
If she took part in the formation of a serious 3rd party I would at least seriously consider joining it.
This writer can just.....well, I try and eschew bad language here, and I’ve been a little lax on that lately, so fill in the blank the way you think best.
