How could someone filled with such promise plunge so far, so fast? How does one go from national icon to national laughingstock?
Thats exactly what has happened to Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee.
Once arguably the GOPs most charismatic celebrity, Palin is now better known for thriving in this role of right wing shock jock as Nicolle Wallace, a former senior adviser for the John McCain-Palin campaign, now puts it.
Its a far cry from Sept. 3, 2008, when Palin, then the largely unknown Alaska governor, confidently strode onto the stage at the Republican National Convention as McCains running mate and introduced herself to the world. It was a breakthrough moment supporters saw in her a political outsider, a feisty advocate for conservative values, and a hockey mom with five children (including one son on his way to fight in Iraq and another born with Down syndrome).
On the campaign trail, Palin electrified voters portraying herself up as governor who stood up to special interests, lobbyists, big oil companies and the good-ol boys network. And to the delight of the partys base voters, she painted then-Democratic nominee Barack Obama, as an out-of-touch elitist who had nothing to offer but empty promises....

Isn’t the Governor a “has been., “wanna be”, “yesterday’s news”, etc., for what, six ~ seven years now?
Why do these ‘people’ waste column space on her?
She’s a nobody, a bitter clinger hick from a nowhere town in a nowhere state.
Give it a rest people!
Ask Zero.
Because they remain terrified of her and her influence. As with all leftists, they regurgitate this deranged hate over and over hoping this “big lie” will take hold. They only shrink a little bit more every time they do.
Palin lives rent free in the MSNBC liberal mind.
What’s all the worry about, and attacking of, someone who is so inconsequential ?
Unless, obviously Palin is anything but that.
Liberals lie, especially MSNBC talking heads, and their ratings show it.
They’re trying to redirect Hillary Clinton’s ridicule onto Palin.
“F.R. is seen by Hundreds of Thousands each day.”
Which is exactly why you see the Cheshires ‘performing’ as they do.
In my Off-Road.com days, back when Dinosaurs used modems, I, we, learned an important lesson. I use this quote often because I believe there is a lot of truth covering a lot of topics...including this one.
Today I made an appearance downtown
I am an expert witness because I say I am
And I said gentlemen, and I use that world loosely
I will testify for you, I’m a gun for hire,I’m a saint, I’m a liar
Because there are no facts, there is no truth
Just data to be manipulated
I can get you any result you like
What’s it worth to you?
Because there is no wrong, there is no right
And I sleep very well at night
No shame, no solution, no remorse, no retribution
Just people selling t-shirts
Just opportunity to participate in the pathetic little circus
And winning, winning, winning
It’s from the Don Henley (lib that he is) song “In the Garden of Allah” and about the OJ trial. So how does this relate? Simple.
The Internet makes everyone an expert ‘because they say they are’. That dynamic broke the mold of Cronkite and the traditional ‘journalist’ as the sole source of ‘truth’. Or to be accurate, the ‘appearance’ of it, because we all know what a commie bastard he was now.
When you get a handful of people knowingly or unknowingly employing the classic childs game of “Telephone”, where one whispers something to another/rinse, repeat, you get a certain sense of trust built up through repitition. Few people on fourms like this actually know each other. Most of us don’t use our real names.
Yet we read the words and for all we know, it could be either Nancy Reagan Or Michelle Obama typing them. If there is a ring of truth in the words, we go with it for lack of evidence to the contrary.
Which is the problem. Over the years, we have become conditioned to groupthink. High School never ends. We are all, at some level, still the same geeky kids we were back then wanting the approval of our peers. We do not want to be seen as being ‘the other’ because all the cool kids tend to make fun of the other. We want to be popular and accepted too. And the anonymity of the net allows us to hide our bad parts so we can more easily fit in.
So when you get a group of people (PDSers) spouting the MSM line, well, if one of them happens to sit at someones ‘cool kids table’, that person plays along to get a seat there. And because they are anonymous, there really isn’t any downside to spouting the MSM hate Palin memes. They won’t get zotted unless they go to Pissant levels and they are well aware of it. So they spout away.
Now as to who feeds these sheep their soma for the day, you have the MSM who today, like the Ivy league, is made up of 60s ‘Hate America” hippies and their spawn. And I have to admit, they have one thing head and shoulders above us. They stick to the plan. I admire the hell out of them for that. I dispose the plan, but I am wholly impressed with their dedication to it.
The 1963 Communist goals spelled it out. They follow the script. Not one person needs to look any further for the answer to why/how we are in this mess because that is the summary of Communist thought/planning since Marx laid he foundation. Everything we see today is right there in screaming neon.
Some of us are older (relatively speaking as I am under 50) and escaped the full force of PC in education when our ideas/beliefs were formed. We have more of a perspective than some of the younger people because we didn’t grow up wholly under Liberalism. But the ideas Reagan championed are pretty robust and will survive anything short of MK Ultra levels of programming. We only have to be open to them.
I am willing to bet that right now, most of you have nodded your heads in complete agreement with much of what I just said above. I will also bet there were a couple points where many here cocked an eyebrow and went WTF? But by the time you had finished, you largely agreed with what I said.
Now although I 110% believe everything I said above, I want you all, as a homework assignment, to go read up on the techniques of Propoganda/social engineering and see of you recognize any in my post above.
Then realize that those very same things are turned against you, Palin and America every hour of every day by the left. And now you see how easy it is to do.
You have mail.
Started reading because I assumed it was about Ohomo. Stopped reading and moved on soon after.
They've practically driven me away from FR. The constant, never-ending, incessant drone of, "We're Doomed", just wears a person down after a while.
Why such people are allowed to dominate the conversations here, is totally beyond my comprehension.
Good post, Norm.
Trolls and dupes of trolls who don't the first thing about fight.
You ain't the only one it's wearing on.
Professional writers, salespeople and propagandists all draw from the same well. The techniques of social engineering are central to all three and ultimately, manipulation is the goal.
The average person will never delve into it because it is so foreign to their way of thinking. Which is why it is so effective. People want to believe. Like Fox Mulder. They could not live as they do if they had to consider that they may in fact be in a real world 1984. But they are.
So they accept the lies and the manipulation as a coping strategy and get mad when someone rips them from their protective bubble. But as long as people stay in it, the propagandists can manipulate the world around them to their ends unopposed.
PFTtttttttttttttttt!!
Gov Palin will be the next POTUS.
Do a study on how many recognize each name.
Normalcy Bias is a helluva a drug. (h/t to Rick James)
A self-hating Jew of course can be no less destructive than a muslim.
Thanks for the correction.
