COLUMBIA A right-leaning poll shows nearly half of likely S.C. voters favor re-electing U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham.
About 49 percent of 750 likely S.C. voters polled said they would vote for the Seneca Republican, who is seeking a third term in November.
Grahams Democratic challenger, state Sen. Brad Hutto of Orangeburg, was favored by 30 percent of those polled. Ten percent said they would choose another candidate and 11 percent were undecided.
The poll was conducted July 9-10 by Rasmussen Reports. The polls margin of error was plus or minus 4 percentage points.

The big problem is that there is so much infighting among “tea party” candidates that no single candidate can ever get enough support to make a difference. Republicans in general have a lot of trouble working together, and the more conservative groups seem to have the most trouble of all: for every single one, it’s “my way or the highway,” and each voter practically has his own candidate. And there’s no big picture, that is, no strategy in the choice of candidates.
Part of this is because many of these candidates are political amateurs and, of course, another part of it is that the GOP establishment doesn’t take them seriously because they don’t have much ability to network, raise money, etc. More political savvy would help; you can’t expect virtue alone to get you elected, alas. But nobody seems to learn from past errors: they just get mad and stalk off.
Lindsey Graham/Brad Hutto “at this point what difference does it make” six of one half dozen of the other.
Graham is the log that won’t flush.
And I’d wager that a couple of those 6-8 might have been backdoor bankrolled by the GOPe just to further dilute the field.
50% of people in s. carolina are F-ing idiots..... there fixed it
Has McCain been spotted in SC yet, trolling black democrat neighborhoods?
Not necessarily. RCP polling averages compilation has the GOP gaining +6. And Angus King (I-ME) has also indicated that if the GOP does win the majority, he will shift allegiance.
If you think that the Democrat Party is going to sit idly by and get voted out of power by the peons, you have another think coming. They are going to use every dirty trick in the book along with some they just invented. More importantly, they [Democrats] will have the support of the Republican Party and main stream media versus Conservatives.
Hardly. Democrats are not worried about the Senate loss (they may say they are, but they're not). In fact some observers think that Obama and the Hillary campaign generally will have better prospects in 2016 if the GOP does take the Senate, with an eye towards winning the chamber back in 2016 when more GOP seats will be vulnerable.
Dems really only care now about one thing long term: a Democrat President nominating judges, letting in as many illegals as possible, and preventing repeal of ObamaCare. GOP winning the Senate stops none of those things, certainly not with at best a 52-48 majority.
For the Conservatives to pull it off, they would need candidates to inspire , encourage, and motivate. Ted Cruz can do that. Sarah Palin can do that. Trey Gowdy can do that. And intervention from Almighty God brought about by often and fervent prayer.
Agreed. They need someone like them to win the GOP nomination and the Presidency in 2016. Senate win is a pittance by comparison.
Yep. Or just vote for Tim Scott — libertarian for LGs spot.
Lindsey Graham’s political base consist of the democratis voting in republican primaries.
So South Carolina republicans are left with a general election in which you can either choose Lindsey Graham or a full time democrat. What should have Lindsey Graham concerned is that hes now down to just 50%, in a highly conservative state.
South Carolina is a Conservative state, but Lindsey Graham has depended upon democrats to win his primary. As he has managed to alienate most of the State’s republicans.
A good Conservative 3rd party run and Lindsey Graham will be toast.
GO RAVENEL !
Which Ravenel is this: is this the one for whom a unique bridge in Charleston is named? Isn’t he on the older side to be running?
