“Yuri Gagarin”

Lyrics:
The chimes rang out from Kremlin’s Tower, ushering a new day
The 12th of April ‘61, man ventured into space
Yuri Gagarin, you’ll be our man tonight, at the World Space Party
From a schoolboy out in the pasture, to a pilot protecting the borders
Days of war and misery, had liberated Yuri
The closeness of the continents, essential unity of all humans
What wonderful soil this would be, in which peace and friendship could seed
Yuri Gagarin, you’ll be our man tonight, at the World Space Party
Yuri Gagarin, you’ll be our man tonight, at the World Space Party
Dear friends, compatriots, and people of all continents
In a few minutes a mighty ship will carry me into the distance
What can I say to you in these last moments?
[At this moment] my life seems so condensed into one wonderful moment
To be the first to enter the cosmos, [to] engage, single handed
[In] an unprecedented duel with nature. Could one ask for anything more?
Yuri Gagarin, you’ll be our man tonight, at the World Space Party
Yuri Gagarin, you’ll be our man tonight, at the World Space Party
New Country Corn Flakes! New Country Corn Flakes!
I’m off for home.
Crazy Arthur Brown...excellent Pookie... maybe not the best Fire! song but the earliest one I can remember.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
Elmer Fudd’s version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Fire”
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
A man once went bar hopping and had a few drinks too many. Passing a music store on the way home, he saw the word "syncopation" in the window, which gave him an idea as to how to explain his tipsy condition to his wife.
Sure enough, when he got home, his wife asked him about his condition, and he explained, "I'm not feeling well. I've got syncopation." Then he went to bed.
Noting his condition, the wife was worried that syncopation must be a horrible disease, so she decided to look it up in the dictionary, which stated as follows--"syncopation: a staggered movement from bar to bar."
I think Morgana’s favorite musical had a song about “fire”
I also think the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Disney, had a song called “Heaven’s Light/Hellfire”
Thanks Everyone,up the mountains on family vacation with 22 people. They were enjoying the songs but they are getting ready for bed so I gotta shut down:(See you in the morning ((((Hugs))))
Thanks for reminding me of that one. They're not the only ones to borrow the melody of "The Fire Song." A Communist balladeer also used it for his notorious "patriotic" opus:
This Land--Woody Guthrie (1951)
The doormats are still wet, as there has not been enough sunshine to dry anything out.
Lots of lessons today and tomorrow.
rain rain rain.
ABBA, Kisses of Fire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2d69hh7hwE
It’s a lip sync performance, but at 2:37 Agnetha holds a note for ten seconds.
Kisses of Fire:
Kisses of fire, burning, burning
I’m at the point of no returning
Kisses of fire, sweet devotions
Caught in a landslide of emotions
I’ve had my share of love affairs and they were nothing compared to this
Oh, I’m riding higher than the sky and there is fire in every kiss
Kisses of fire
Kisses of fire
That’s what I thought but I wasn’t sure. I figured maybe there were only just four chords that everyone had to use back then.
Thanks. I am so happy!
Thank you so much! I have been truly blessed.
