A federal judge has ordered the IRS to explain "under oath" how the agency lost a trove of emails from the official at the heart of the Tea Party targeting scandal.
U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan gave the tax agency 30 days to file a declaration by an "appropriate official" to address the computer issues with ex-official Lois Lerner.
The decision came Thursday as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, which along with GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill has questioned how the IRS lost the emails and, in some cases, had no apparent way to retrieve them.

It would be nice if the geek the IRS hired to get rid of those emails would pop up...like on Perry Mason....
I did it...I did it...It was me...not Lois. She's an idiot!!

Why do these judges etc., always give these criminals such a long time to come up with their excuses. Why not 48 hours or next week?
To: upchuck
I read it elsewhere. I certainly hope that the judge keeps pushing until conflicting sworn testimony starts coming out between what Congress has been told and what they are telling the judge.
I also like idea of getting a judicial expert to look into finding alternate sources of the emails. I suspect that IRS servers, other peoples computers (like in the White house and DNC) along with the NSA could do wonders to come up with real information that IRS and DOJ are corrupt and doing the Big Zero's bidding.

Will the IRS appeal the judge’s ruling?..That will be telling.

Idon't know what it means to order the IRS to explain.
Who is the IRS?
Who will "explain?"
Who will be under oath?

Who will be under oath?Who? I'll tell you who. Some know-nothing stooge that they know, knows nothing. That's who.
I'm not so sure that that will pass muster with this judge though.

I think what happened is they deleted the local records of their internal IRS instant messages, then everyone who was party to those conversations had "hard drive failures" because Lerner asked about them being recovered and electronically searched by Congressional investigators.
At that point the hard drives were removed and physically destroyed. I would think that when the computers were set up with the new drives, the users' systems were restored from a backup, so even if these messages were deleted there would be a record of them somewhere.

OK, so she goes under oath and lies, and no one else counters her lies.

"Same old crap, sorry judge there is an ongoing investigation" Not quite. Congress cannot disbar Eric Holder. A judge can.
