Every Republican has three options on impeachment. One: Lets do it. Hes got it coming. As far as I know, no one in Congress has joined Palin in taking that approach since her op-ed at Breitbart went live yesterday, although Im sure theres a constituency for it in the House. Someone should ask Tim Huelskamp or Michele Bachmann. Two: Hell no. Its political suicide. Lots of Republicans believe that, McCain and Boehner foremost among them, but they dont want to say so publicly or else theyll be attacked from the right for putting expediency above principle. Erick Erickson, whos no ones idea of a RINO, is bolder than they are in making the case today at Red State.
Thus, option three: Hes got it coming, but alas, it wont work. Democrats are too corrupt to join us in the effort. Thatll be the default position for Republican pols since it lets them shift blame while achieving suicide-avoidance. The mystery with Cruz was whether hed choose door number one or number three. He wants to preserve his cred as Mr. Tea Party ahead of 2016 but, after having spearheaded the defund effort, he also doesn't want to get knocked again as a guy whos willing to bet lots of Republican political capital on lost causes. His interview with Mark Levin on Monday night suggested that he was in the hes got it coming but it wont work camp.
And, per National Review, he is.

It is the result of ‘lesser evil’ being filled up to the ears in conservative heads. Now many ‘conservatives have no more belief in the Constitution and conservatism than any other ‘moderate.
All you need to do is look at their words. Indistinguishable fro the standard GOP party line.
No you didn’t. Here it is again
You either belive in the constitutional remedy and by extension the authority of the constitution itself to govern us or you dont.
Do you or not? you do not get to pick and choose.
Agree. Palin is serving a useful purpose. She’s setting the margin to the right.
I understand it more than you apparently. If the founders specified something other than impeachment then where is it?
Wait until after the Nov elections. Clinton got an uptick off of his impeachment.
And now I see not 1 but 3 people believe we should let Obama continue with his “wackiness.”
It starts to paint a picture of how we got here, doesn’t it.
Ted Cruz, Trey Gowdy and Alan West: Our only hope.
Yup. Look back through the post histories. You will see all sorts of support for ...shall we say...moderate positions and politicians.
you will also see lots of namecalling when the argument goes against them. Just like the GOP does. Libs too.
“The mystery with Cruz was whether hed choose door number one or number three.”
Who gives a crap? He’s just another weathervane RINO.
“He wants to preserve his cred”
Done lost it by going AWOL during this border crisis.
Apparently reading comprehension is not your strong suit... So I will dumb it down for you. The congress has the power of the purse as well as complete authority over the laws of immigration. It is more likely that this congress would defund... That is one of the solutions provided by the constitution another is trough the courts.
You still have not cited where the constitution REQUIRES impeachment. It does not and you can not twist it to make it so. You claim to want to follow the law but won’t even do so yourself.
Yes I want the constitution to be used... There are many ways it can be
“Time is on our side.”
I suspect that if we had a color-coded map showing the progress of the invasion from south of the border, it would not seem so.
You may not like it, but it sounds realistic.
I read just fine thanks. I understand you keep avoiding a simple yes no answer because you lose either way. Say yes and your argument falls apart.
The purse has nothing to do with HCAM. Cite one reference where in light of HCAM one is to defund the president.
Cite one reference where in light of HCAM the congress is to do ANYTHING but impeach.
One.
I’ll wait.’
Speaking from a legal standpoint, there is plenty of evidence to impeach Soetoro (birth certificate, Benghazi, Fast & Furious, capitulation towards UN wrt. Libya, ISIS crisis, Berghdal incident, fleeing from Iraq, Osamacare, border crisis, expansion of all government bureaucracies, absolutely anything to do wrt. Eric Holder, Marxism, Islam, Black Liberation Theology, atheism, abortion, gay agenda, promotion of the global warming fraud, refusal to wear flag pin, refusal to put hand over heart during Pledge of Allegiance, opposition to the flag burning amendment, and there’s probably a lot more). Sensible people can find the relative provisions in the Constitution which would impeach him.
Speaking from a political standpoint, keep in mind that the Dementocrats completely disprove of the Republican Party, so there is no political capital to be lost by legitimately pushing for impeachment. Moderates can be won over if they are exposed to the truths of the Hussein Administration. His disapproval rating is higher than his approval rating, meaning that impeachment can only be a success.
Speaking from a moral standpoint, Osama and the rest of the Dementocrats deserve to meet the same fate as the Rosenbergs did. We used to execute traitors, now we give them the Presidential office. If we don’t want to look like international laughingstocks, then that is our only option.
Strange. For years everyone on FR was solid on what impeachment was and how it was used. Now it’s all new!
Just like 2012 when since its creation, we all knew that pushing for an abortion funding, pro gay socialist was an absurd notion.
Then many did that very thing.
How very odd these big turnabouts happen at the most convenient times.
“It was a debacle because the GOP cowered from defending its actions. No other reason.”
Secret evidence was shown to the lower house that shocked and persuaded enough representatives to impeach the dirty rotten bastard.
The unspeakably detestable demonrat senators simply blocked that, and much other evidence, from being presented to the senators before they voted not to remove from office.
The trial in the senate was worse than a farce. Sort of a combination of a farce and a slasher flick.
If that secret evidence had been made public, I am told, it could have swayed public opinion just as it did the House of Representatives.
verb.
Had the GOP manned the hell up and took their case to the public ala Reagan, no ‘secret evidence’ would have been needed. What the open truth was was plenty. They helped bury it.
Oh yes, I did realize that after I hit post! But still, a “ment” would be good, but I can’t think of anything better than “mint”, so you are probably right to stick with what you have.
