The Environmental Protection Agency has quietly claimed that it has the authority to unilaterally garnish the wages of individuals who have been accused of violating its rules.

According to The Washington Times, the agency announced the plan to enhance its purview last week in a notice in the Federal Register. The notice claimed that federal law allows the EPA to "garnish non-Federal wages to collect delinquent non-tax debts owed the United States without first obtaining a court order."

The notice went on to say that the EPA had fast-tracked the new rule, enabling it to take effect September 2 unless the agency receives enough adverse public comments by August 1. The EPA said the rule was not subject to review because it was not a "significant regulatory action."

Can 'we the people' fast track our own rules and cite some arbitrary date in which objections must be made by? If so, instead of garnishing wages, I'm making the following rule; all forms of taxation are no longer compulsory and will instead be treated as philanthropic gestures which must be acknowledged with a hand-written 'thank-you' note, signed by all members of Congress . All objections to my rule must be sent by certified mail, to my home by 12:00 noon, today.

I found where to comment on this.

I urge everyone to comment — the rule is described and there is a “comment” button on the top right:

In the beginning the EPA did good stuff by cleaning up rivers esp. the East River in New York. For the first time there’s fish in it. It grew into the monolith it is today under Democrat rule.

Since CO2 is now a pollutant according to the EPA and I exhale the stuff does that mean I’m a polluter and should be fined? Can they garnish my paychecks as a result for exhaling?

Here's the actual Federal Register notice, which includes instructions on how to send comments on the proposed over-reach/rule:

https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2014/07/02/2014-15578/administrative-wage-garnishment

And of course, federal wages are exempt. Anyone surprised?

I left a comment last week, but don’t see them listed. How do I find them?

Outta control.

I think the EPA needs MRAPS, and guns and ammo to enforce their random and spurious decisions. Oh wait, they already have their weapons.

"Wouldn’t that violate the “takings clause” of the Constitution."

As well as the due process clause.

Since no one is going to stop them, I guess they do indeed have this power.

So much for the concept that the government exists to serve the citizens.

These people see themselves as Royalty and Masters Of The Universe.

They are the Americas Kings, Queens, Lords, ladies and dukes and we are their pesky serfs.

The entire federal government (and most state governments) need a good flush and a scrub with a steel bore brush.

Maybe lye or sulfuric acid would be strong enough but I doubt it.
