The retail giant Costco Wholesale has issued an order to remove all copies of Dinesh DSouzas bestselling book, America: Imagine the World Without Her, from the shelves of its stores nationwide, WND has confirmed.
The book, in this midterm election year, is a strong rebuttal of the progressive ideology behind President Obamas policies, which have been supported by Costco co-founder and director Jim Sinegal, a major Democrat donor and a speaker at the 2012 Democratic National Convention that nominated the president. A Washington Post political reporter has noted Obamas romance with the nations second-largest retailer.
At Amazon.com, DSouzas book, released June 2, is ranked No. 43 overall and is the No. 3 hardcover book in Amazons Politics and Government section and No. 1 in the Commentary and Opinion subsection of Politics and Government.
Costco has sold more than 3,600 copies of America nationwide, with about 700 copies sold last week as DSouzas film by the same name opened at more than 1,000 movie theaters nationwide.
But Costcos book department issued the pull-order, requiring all Costco stores nationwide to remove the book, confirmed Scott Losse, an inventory control specialist in the book department at the Costco Wholesale corporate office in Issaquah, Washington, a suburb of Seattle.
The July 1 order required all copies to be removed by July 15.
Contacted for a reaction, DSouza was surprised to learn of the Costco decision.
If true, this would be very odd, DSouza said.
Were in the process of finding out whats happening. I look forward to getting to the bottom of this and continuing the strong relationship my publisher and I have always had with Costco and their millions of shoppers.
Most Costco stores WND contacted Monday had already pulled America from the shelves, with others scheduled to remove it with their regularly scheduled inventory

Who said anything about cheering?
Post # 67 sums it up prety well.
People fought and died for our Republic and that bastard in Washington is using his connections with Costco to attack one of the few people who stood up to this criminal and you want to patronize them to save a few bucks?
That is really disappointing. I didn’t know these bastards were so on the take for Obama. Had I I would have dropped them sooner.
At the very least you could at least call, write and mail these people.
We by the Kirkland brand AllerClear D-24 (15 ea) for $5.79 compared to $15-20 for CVS or name brand. That saves almost $20/month.
Prescription prices are often MUCH LOWER at Costco; sometimes even cheaper than the insurance co-pay.
But 700 copies in the first week is not bad if there is no advertising from the publisher.
PS Soon we probably won’t have much money to spend on books anyway. . . .and how do you know they were visibly placed on the shelf. I’ve gone into bookstores several times asking for a newly released conservative book only to find they either weren’t on the shelf or they were hidden in a non-related section of the store.
I found it necessary to drop JC Penney’s as well.
That was 700 copies last week. Costco sold about 3,000 during the first 3+ weeks.
Spoke with people in the administrative offices in five different Houston Costco’s and they confirmed that the book has already been pulled. None acknowledged knowing the reason why and would not share the name of the person who sent them the email.
Too bad. We didn’t buy much from them but have had a card for our company for three years and certainly won’t buy anything from now on.
Are you a Costco employee or shareholder. . .just sayin’
JC Penny has rid itself of the pro-homosexual agenda and gone back to having sales. The employees are much happier now and the stores doing better.
I can see JCP eventually going to primarily online sales.
Nope; just a long-time customer of about 30 years.
Guess I can write off Costco...
Wasn’t it Costco that labeled bibles as fiction?
I hope that Costco isn’t trying to censor what people can buy there so I’ll see what more turns up about this.
But I have to say that I’ve loved Costco for the longest time but that in the last year or two or three some of whatever their magic used to be seems to be kind of just disappearing because it’s not the same interesting place it always used to be.
OK maybe I sounded a little flip in my last post. I apologize; however, I can go to sleep feeling good about standing up for my convictions on this Costco outfit. I guess we pick and choose our battles. This one really got to me more than the JC Penney ordeal because our country’s freedom hangs in the balance. . . .
Many unhappy comments on their Facebook page.
Excellent! You understand freedom, private property, and the concept of Rights.
Rights aren't Rights unless everyone has them.
But then, too, I reserve the Right to patronize the businesses of my choice, especially those which are in alignment with me on issues, while reserving the Right to not patronize those in opposition.
