"I have no idea where they got that number,". Maybe they got it were most lib/prog/socialist/commie/dimokkkrats get there "facts". They used the settled science of thin air supposition formulation calculation dissertation. And THAT, is a fact. Cause I said so. See how easy that is?

I researched this after a conversation with a student going door to door collecting to save the dolphins and to my surprise found the truth is very far from the mountain of plastic bags and foam cups the size of Texas floating in the mid Pacific the kid described.

Maybe they are counting zooplanktons and other micro-organisms?

Maybe PETA will take up the cause, I have been waiting for years for them to stand up for Yersinia Pestis’ rights.

Unfortunate that people believe fear mongering hype regarding this B.S.

Just yesterday had a client, while out fishing with me, ask me about all the “trash” floating in the water and asked if it was from Japan.

I explained what he was looking at was kelp and floating wood.

Seriously, I feel as if I spend more of my time re-educating people about facts vs hype rather than focusing on fishing.

"I have no idea where they got that number,".

Completely different topic, but I believe they found the same thing with the classic "You should drink 8 glasses of water a day". There is no basis for this. It may be a good idea, but there is no data which supports that number. It's just something people say.

A lot of what passes for science isn't science.

Sorry. Disagree on this one. Have a good friend in merchant marine and over the years he has talked about, and shown me evidence of, the ruining of the ocean. I’ve also done a mountain of reading on this. This is killing the oceans.

Now of course, the Left will use these facts to do something bizarre, but that doesn’t make the underlying facts untrue

Not everything to preserve the environment is hugging a tree.

I have no idea where they got that number.

Perhaps student are learning what they are taught about doctoring data to fit your agenda.

From the Florida Math Assessment test for 7th graders:

Classic…creating data to match your hypothesis.

What!!!??? ... another leftist myth down the tubes? Lefties start these things, and they become “proven” facts in no time. My own study says 99% of leftist speech results in gaseous emissions that are harmful to at least 95% of humanity. Ban leftists is my solution. Let them try to disprove my uh scientific study.

Actually, my scientific research (there now, that's settled) indicates that plastics kill 1.65 million marine animals per year.

I.7 BILLION diatoms can fit into one plastic water bottle, with Perrier being the worst. This is settled science. But one simply must have a couple of these bottles tucked into the Spandex ... it's just that the peasants and Conservatives must be encouraged not to use them
