North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, a Republican, has signed legislation that will explicitly allow students in public schools across the state to engage in voluntary student-led prayer.
The new law permits students to create religious clubs and coordinate prayer groups, reports North Carolina Fox affiliate WGHP.
The three-page law also allows students to pray by themselves or in groups aloud or silently in exactly the same way they can discuss or think silently about any other issue.
Additionally, students will be able to communicate their religious beliefs in written assignments and artwork under the new law without fear of censorship from teachers or school officials.
The legislation does set limits on prayer and God talk at taxpayer-funded schools. Religious students wont be able to interrupt other students who are trying to learn, for example. They also cant harass nonreligious students.
The law, which takes effect immediately, sailed through North Carolinas House and Senate chambers with overwhelming support. In the Senate, the vote was 48-1. In the lower chamber, it was 106-9.

Three....Two...One.
“Federal District judge overturns North Carolina law allowing student led school prayer - cites “unconstitutionality” and “offense to minorities”. “
(any bets on how long before we read the above headline, or a variation thereof?)
It was not so much the 17th Amendment, but creation of the ever-expanding entitlements programs by which states prostituted their responsibilities in exchange for easy Federal loot.
Hallelujah.
I take back anything bad I ever said about Pat McCrory.
Biology - Show the computer animations of the DNA replication process and then ask students, "Explain how this happened by random assemblage of atoms. Then explain WHY it started and continues to function.
'Billions and Billions of years' is an incomplete answer. "
Fundamentally, it is IMPOSSIBLE to have a religiously neutral school. Why? Answer: Because such a philosophic state of neutrality can not exist in the mind of any human.
This action by the state legislature is NOT religiously neutral. Why?
1) All of the students who are in the government single-payer school under threat of police action have had their right to free association violated by the government. While in this prison-like environment, they will be subjected to religious worldviews of others that they and their families find repugnant. Don't be surprised when Muslims, atheists, gays, and Satanists take every opportunity within the law to impose their religious worldview on their fellow student captives.
2) It is NOT religiously neutral for the government to dictate free speech and expression of religion, and this law does exactly that!

No...They are rejoicing. They will take every opportunity to use the law against the Christian students who are imprisoned in the government’s K-12 single-payer schools. Bet on it!
The **only** solution is to get government OUT of all aspects of schooling. Begin the process of fully privatizing K-12 schooling in this nation.
As an ever-skeptic that any good can happen in a public schooling system, your take is understandable. That does not make it any less tendentious.
My take: It’s better to have a Mars Hill than to have a stifled silence. But Christian families now have a challenge. They cannot let children go unprepared. Evangelistic opportunities await and should be well exploited.
Supreme Court prays and displays the Ten Commandments. Our money says “In God We Trust”.
While I am pleased with this small step, I believe America has made her bed. We are way past the slippery slope.
The entitlements were inevitable when both houses of congress were elected by popular vote.
I can’t help but wonder if Gov. Pat McCrory is a NASCAR fan. Prayers before races is a must in NASCAR.
Re: Evangelistic opportunities
Evangelism works both ways. Remember. The children will be evangelized by the godless curriculum and their Marxist trained teachers ( nearly all teachers in the nation have been trained by Marxists.). And....Did Christ send children out to preach the gospel or mature men?
The only solution that abides by the Constitution and freedom of conscience is to begin the process of privatizing all K-12 schooling.
I’d bet He is but keeps it fairly hush unlike some pols that just try to use it for political gain. I find it ABSURD that there even has to be such a law.
I know. I wonder how long until Freedom From Religion gets that stopped. The U.S. Army sponsors a car, therefore the federal government is endorsing religion.
That was part of it but the left convinced them that it was dehumanizing for people to have to ask for help. The givers would judge them and make them feel bad. The Left wanted to make them permanent wards of the State.
Didn't the House of Representatives recently try to pass a law saying Obama has to obey the law?
Yes. Crazy.
I’m confused. They weren’t allowed to do this before? Was this North Carolina or China?
