Americans are appalled over the false testimony of four consecutive IRS Commissioners, Lois Lerners countless acts of malfeasance, and the IRSs targeting of conservative groups and specific individuals, among them Senator Grassley. The ultimate outrage came over the lame, intellectually insulting assertions that all of the most relevant emails have gone missing from multiple IRS computers at the same time.
Today, Judicial Watch found a federal judge who has the integrity and fortitude to seek Justiceand this isnt his first whack at the Department of Justice either. Enter Emmet G. Sullivan, United States District Judge for the District of Columbia. Mark July 10 in RED on your calendars.
Now, Internal Revenue Service officials will have to explain to a federal judge July 10 why the tax agency didnt inform the court that Lois Lerners emails had been lost, the Washington Examiner reports.
Earlier today, attorneys for Judicial Watch sought a courtroom status conference as soon as possible to discuss the IRSs failure to fulfill its duties to this court under the law, as well as other ramifications of this lawsuit. It took Judge Sullivan just a few hours to grant the hearing.
Now the IRS will have to talk to Judge Sullivan about all thisand he has the power to do something about it.
Judge Sullivan is the judge who held federal prosecutors in contempt, dismissed an unjust indictment against a United States Senator, and publicly excoriated the Department of Justice. He also had the moral conviction, courage and gumption to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Justice Department and the individual prosecutors.
The IRS, the White House, and the DOJ have a lot of explaining to do (and some emails to locate). The Washington Examiner reports that No mention was made in that production of the lost Lerner emails, even though the original Judicial Watch FOIA lawsuit filed in May 2013 specifically sought them. Judicial Watch further noted that although IRS had knowledge of the missing Lois Lerner emails and of the other IRS officials, it materially omitted any mention of the missing records in an April 30 status update on its document production. Emmet G. Sullivan, a graduate of Howard University and Howard Law who was appointed by President Clinton, is one of the heroes of my new book, Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice. Judge Sullivan ordered an independent investigation of the Department of Justice, which revealed its corrupted prosecution of United States Senator Ted Stevens.
In the book, I write, An experienced trial judge, Sullivan was a distinguished man and widely held in high regard. He was no ordinary federal judge; he had worked hard all his life on several different courts and had been appointed by three presidents representing both political parties. . . . He had great respect for the rule of law and strived to apply it equally and fairly in all cases in his courtroom.
In the Stevens case, Judge Sullivan publicly upbraided the government lawyers before an overflow courtroom, In nearly 25 years on the bench, Ive never seen anything approaching the mishandling and misconduct that Ive seen in this case. . . . When the government does not meet its obligations to turn over evidence, the system falters.
Judge Sullivan was taking the extraordinary step of appointing a special prosecutor. He chose highly respected DC attorney Henry Schuelke III to investigate the prosecutors for possible criminal charges. The judge ordered the department to preserve all of its files, electronic correspondenceeverythingand cooperate fully in the investigation, including providing Schuelke access to investigative files and all witnesses.
Yesterday, Lois Lerners troubles seemed so far away, goes the old song. Now it looks as though theyre here to stay. . . .
Emmet G. Sullivan is one judge who knows a cover-up when he sees one. He has seen this movie before. On July 10, someone should sell admission to the courtroom and set up concession booths outside.
Btt
...or maybe he hates BO as much as the Clintons do.
He seriously just sounds like a judge who wants justice (gasp) and doesn't take any crap. This is the best news I've heard yet on the IRS scandal.
July 10 can't come soon enough.
I pray you are right.
I can't think of one thing any of us can do -- our government has become so sequestered from the people and protected by the press. It's just not the way it was supposed to work.
Thank you for taking time to do the research on these facts.
By contrast, potshots from the uninformed are just that.
FReegards!
Thanks, Cap Huff. This does look promising.
I saw a headline that says “Obama say’s he feels like a caged bear”. It’s going to be a battle because Obama is, as I said, becoming more obstinate and reckless. The MSM won’t be able to cover for him as much as they have in the past.
I think our imbecile of a president is about to attempt his end game. They have him pretty well backed into a corner.
He’s going to become more obstinate and it should backfire on him. The MSM won’t be able to cover for him as much as they have in the past.
Clintons hate Obamas, and this judge’s personal honor and friendship/association with B&H may override racial considerations.
I have been able to “read” liberals for some time. One liberal man I know casually and see about twice a week has become sullen and stand-offish. His demeanor is very telling. I know that guy is not happy with all this and that is a good sign.
Sometimes the anecdotal information is very telling, particularly when backed up by some polling data. We may be approaching a tipping point. The only problem is that there has already been a lot of damage, and even after a tipping point there will likely be a lot more.
RE: Caged Bear
I can think of a few animals to compare him to, but bear is not one of them . . . .
He’s such an evil creature. Discernment is foreign to too many in our country. The dumbing down of America..........
We have to depend on a private non-profit legal firm to do the work Congress won’t. Actually, that sounds very American, doesn’t it?
We’ve admired Judge Sullivan since he was on the D.C. Superior Court. There ARE some decent judges in D.C.
Yeah, I thot that bear part was a bit of a miss. I was thinking more like skunk in a cage. I catch one in a live trap occasionally and all they know how to do is squirt stink all over the ‘hood, pretty much like the Kenyan every day. You can’t get them out of the cage until they die since they don’t honor term limits or even white flags.
Yes, skunk is on my list. I won’t go into what else is on that list . . . .
You obviously have more experience with skunks than I do. I don’t care to get that experience, however.
I did do “battle” with a camp raiding bear several years ago. Insolent, greedy, and spoiled whatever it could get its paws on. Insisted everything in my camp belonged to him. Come to think of it, maybe bear is not entirely off . . . .
Pass this around so it goes viral:
Trey Gowdy TOTALLY OWNS the smug IRS Commissioner.

I find watching Trey Gowdy champion the values of integrity of the law an uplifting experience. He is truly a breath of fresh air!
Why is this man still above ground? Why hasn’t he “committed suicide” yet?
Thanks for the info.
OK, being disbarred is a real punishment. But it is frequently a fairly temporary thing. It can be appealed and credentials are frequently reinstated.
The lawyer that committed suicide is irrelevant; he punished himself.
