Democrats were crossing their fingers that Chris McDaniel would be the Republican nominee in Mississippi.
But since Sen. Thad Cochran has prevailed, they are trying to do the unthinkable unseat a six-term GOP senator.
McDaniel supporters are irate that Cochran won a GOP primary by reaching across the aisle. Now some of his backers are ambivalent about whether theyll come out at all in November and if they dont, that could create a rare opening for a Democrat here.

That's why it grates. We always have to give in their direction in order to 'unify'?
Why can't they EVER...just once..... move toward ours?
Oh, and re your tagline, I don’t call what’s been happening to America under the left or the GOPe, “winning”. We don’t send them there so they can pad their pensions, they’re paid for a reason, and they are not fulfilling their job description.
LOL! Excellent post!
They haven’t had to.
Because at best, they go with good intentions and get co-opted by the machine. At worst, they only wanted office to fulfill their own greed for power. Very few seem to stay the course.
Amen to that. Every time, we are told to unify, get over it, hold our noses, etc. It doesn’t hurt them half as much to lose, as it does us for having allowed them to again, dictate the terms, everytime. They make sure to exempt themselves from the harm they allow to be inflicted upon us, like CommieCare.
I’m usually, like 99.99% of the time, after a primary, one who will say, “now it’s time to vote republican”.
But what Cochran did was just so inexcusable. He’s not only a fake conservative, but on TOP of that, he used an exceedingly slimy, dare I say Democrat tactic to win the primary. He played the race card, on another Republican! And the worst part of all of this is, he will NEVER play that hardball with a Democrat. Only a fellow republican.
I’m sorry. This pragmatist says let him burn in the political inferno of his own creation. Enough of this, even for ME.
I have never looked into Travis Childers before. Why would I? He is a Democrat.
Upon further examination, Childers is as conservative as Cochran has ever been, if not more so.
That does not mean that I support voting for a Dem. I will say this though. Cochran and Barbour and the rest of his bunch have called us Tea Party conservatives every racist name in the book. If I were to vote in November it would be for Travis. That won't happen either but Thad can kiss my ever-lovin' ass.
“If conservatives would put half as much energy into defeating Democrats, as they are into defeating Republicans, we wouldnt have president Obama, nor a far left Dem majority in the Senate.
All I see here is hate towards Republicans, but no criticism whatsoever towards Dems.”
What in the hell are you talking about? We have been supporting Republicans of all stripes for years, are you NOT PAYING ATTENTION to what has happened in Mississippi? What is happening nationally? And I never said I would vote for a democrat but I will not vote for cochran. It may be time for a third party as it appears to me that with some exceptions the republicans are working to sever ties with Conservatives. Are you suggesting we give up our Conservative values so we can say “I’m a Republican” have the republicans stopped obama at anything, how are they on voting against progressive judges, have they defunded any of obama’s socialist programs/, obamacare? the national debt? What about “fast and furious”, “benghazi”, “VA”? About the only thing I can think nof they’ve done lately is destroy some of their own to preserve the seat of a liberal voting spendthrift. The “Divide and Conquer” strategy has been going on for a long time, as a people we have been divided by race, gender, language, income, sexual preferance, education, etc. by liberals, democrats, progressives and where were our republicans? It realy sucks to be writing what I have tonight because I am and always have been a Republican with votes, money and volunteer work. We have been betrayed and I no longer believe blind loyality to the republican party is in our best intrest. They have certainly not been loyal to their constituancy. I do also believe that voting for ANY democrat at ANY time is NOT a solution.
My stance exactly. Won’t vote for a rat no matter what they’re labelling themselves.
If we can take the Senate in November WITHOUT Mississippi - everyone should stay home and let the democrat win.
If we can’t take the Senate without Mississippi - then we’ll have to think about it...
If control of the Senate is at stake there’s a BIG difference.
If we can take the Senate without Mississippi, then everyone should stay home...sit on their hands and not vote.
You are near tone deaf if you thought you were going to post what you posted...and not get a serious birds nest backlash!!!
Bluster? Obviously you are not a Mississippi voter. If I am wrong please correct me. Put in a wager? Damn! After 12 years here you have not even created an 'about' page. How can we place a wager with an unknown blustering 'Longblowhard'?
Republicans will realize dethroning Reid is more important than holding a grudge about the slimy way Cochran won.
Republicans may. Conservatives WILL NOT!
Then they’ll deem it a successful strategy and we’ll get more of the same.
Conservatives are going to take a beating either way, recent history-as recent as the MS primary-prove this. We may as well choose the time and place of it, get it over with, and be free to fight back.
What?? Did you read my post?
Good post!!!
Yes, I did. If we have to swallow what Cochran did to take the Senate, I’ve already thought about it. I won’t vote for him. If it works for him this time, we’ll get more of the same. We’ve been getting more of the same, every election.
You saw it too, huh?
