The Democrats' best shot in Mississippi
Politico ^ | June 26, 2014 | ANNA PALMER

Democrats were crossing their fingers that Chris McDaniel would be the Republican nominee in Mississippi.

But since Sen. Thad Cochran has prevailed, they are trying to do the unthinkable — unseat a six-term GOP senator.

McDaniel supporters are irate that Cochran won a GOP primary by reaching across the aisle. Now some of his backers are ambivalent about whether they’ll come out at all in November — and if they don’t, that could create a rare opening for a Democrat here.

Can McD run as a 3d party or write in candidate? He would have a real chance to win.

My understanding is that he can’t run as a write-in in MS, that can only happen if a candidate dies or drops out. I believe that it’s too late for him to run as an independent, the deadline has passed. So, if there’s not another parh, ie the fraud in this election, then the GOP will stew in its own juice come the GE.

What happened in MS puts the lie to the claim that there’s a difference between the GOPe and the Democrats.

In the hothouse of DC politics, they’ve forgotten what integrity means.

I disagree, Reid is the same as cockring and McConnell, he just has a (d) in front of his name. Same people, same trashy party with no distinction between the (d) or ( r)’s.

I’m in Bennie’s district. I can’t *wait* for the Childers robocalls re: Cochran.

Talk about future entertainment potential.

I need to get an answering machine so I can record them.

I’m sick of this kind of crap. I’ve supported the gop in every way since 1964 never missed a primary, election or runoff and have never voted for a democrat. Lost many primary races and always sucked it up and done more than just vote. THIS IS DIFFERENT we were betrayed and stabbed in the back by the cochran campaign, our elected officials, the RNSC and former governor barbour and his nephews. democrats were paid to vote in our primary, literature and robo-calls that used the old race baiting tactics were used and paid for by the RNSC who has said they would stay out of primaries. THEY BURNED THE BRIDGES, The problems they created in Mississippi and with Conservatives are deep and I don’t know where it will end. The Republicans WILL lose thad’s seat and it’ won’t be the fault of the Tea Party, the McDaniel Campaign or Conservatives. It’s the fault of the RNSC, the cochran campaign, Cochran, the barbours and the Mississippi gop. The gop attacks on their Conservative base have been getting worse or have you not noticed. Virginia gop to not give any funds to Brat, haven’t you heard. senator wicker’s office confirmed the RNSC spent the money on the robo-calls, you should listen to the tapes, they also said senator wicker is proud of his support for Cochran, wicker isn’t up for 4 years but he just pissed off his core base. Many republicans who voted for thad have now indicated they are ashamed of their vote and have lost their enthusiasm for thad, the Mississippi gop and the gop. I don’t know what will happen it’s bad broke and now the democrats are demanding they be paid with more of our tax money for co-opting our primary and in addition the the money being spent they are demanding Voter ID be rescinded. Now you think I should vote for these bastards so they can keep screwing Conservatives, unless you’ve noticed they aren’t really causing obama and the democrats any problems, just Conservatives.

There’s a pic floating around the interwebz of a Wicker office with a ‘No Guns Allowed’ sign in the window.

Won’t be voting for him again either.

A write-in campaign for McDaniels in MS has a better chance than Murkowski had in AK.

Could very well be. For sure, those Dems who voted for Cochran in the primary won't be voting for him in November!

Yes, I got it all right!

You must really like what Obama is doing to the country and want him to continue with even more power.

If conservatives would put half as much energy into defeating Democrats, as they are into defeating Republicans, we wouldn’t have president Obama, nor a far left Dem majority in the Senate.

All I see here is hate towards Republicans, but no criticism whatsoever towards Dems.

While people criticize that perhaps some Dems voted for Cochran — how many here are pretending to be conservatives and all they do is try to “divide and conquer”, set conservatives and Republicans against each other, with the net result of a Dem victory.

See my tagline.

Yes, Barbour and the Cochran campaign should have done that, I agree. Instead, they put more energy, and gutter tactics that they never deign to use against the left, against a good conservative and all the good conservative MS voters in this state. Let them reap what they've sown.

Yes, the Cochran campaign shouldn't have used divisive gutter tactics against conservatives that they don't even remotely approach when dealing with Hussein and the left. They divided, but they won't conquer.

You mean like when McCain refered to the TEA Party as “Hobbits” and Rove undermined every conservative candidate that defeated his chosen ones in primaries?

If we’re “attacking” the GOP-elite it’s because they drew first blood. By the way, have you any issues concerning your precious establishment Repubs pushing amnesty for illegals?

Don’t take it personally, but we’re not going to join you as you get on your knees for your liberal masters.

They are supposed to “switch the books.” The DEMs who voted in the DEM primary are recorded in a DEM book. That book is used in a GOP runoff (and the DEMs would use the GOP book in a DEM runoff) to catch people voting both parties in one primary “cycle” (the “cycle” being primary + runoff). The invalid and illegal votes can still be caught, but it takes checking two books side by side.

Projection. I said no such thing.

Candidates will have to EARN my vote from here on out, so tell me.

What...EXACTLY have the Republicans done to stop him?
