JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Ridgeland police chief Jimmy Houston confirms that Attorney Mark Mayfield has been found dead at his home in the Bridgewater subdivision.

We're told he suffered a gunshot wound.

It is being investigated as a suicide.

In May, Mayfield was arrested and charged with conspiracy in relation to a political scandal.

The 28-year-old blogger, Clayton Kelly, allegedly went into a nursing home and photographed the bedridden wife of Republican U.S. Senator Thad Cochran without permission and posted an image online as part of an anti-Cochran video.

It's not clear the exact role that Mayfield played in obtaining or spreading the photo.

Mayfield was a Board member of the Central MS Tea Party.

Sounds like the Tea Party has an image problem.

What are you talking about?

Those facilities don’t just let anybody in.

Visitors have to have permission.

There’s more to this than meets the eye.

Now that this guy has .... died .... it makes it a whole lot murkier.

The Chief of Police has likely been taking federal funding and federal toys.

Take the government’s carrot, earn the government’s whip.

When I was a boy you would sometimes hear in a conversation among the adults that someone had died and when asked what the cause of death was you would hear, “lead poisoning”, delivered with a certain knowing glance.

Having worked in these facilities and had family members in them... tbey may have policies about not letting just anyone waltz in, but people still just waltz in all the time.

I don’t know what part the attorney played in this egregious lapse of good manners and common sense, but it gave an ambitious prosecutor a place to sink his teeth in deep. As a lawyer, he would know exactly how the corrupt system can be used to grind a person to powder.

“I don’t know what part the attorney played in this egregious lapse of good manners and common sense, but it gave an ambitious prosecutor a place to sink his teeth in deep.”

From what I’ve read, his own mother was either living there, or had lived in the same facility, and he told the blogger how to enter the place without being noticed.

Thus the conspiracy charge. An attorney providing somebody information on how to commit an illegal act is professional suicide. The bullet was an afterthought.

Just dropping in to check the scuttlebutt about this Ms. race. Unbelievable crap. I know onyx is going to be heartbroken over it all. She is suppose to be back Sunday. One thing I would point out is this man Mayfield was not the guy that took the picture and he denied all involvement. Apparently he was arrested by a swat team at his office, made a spectacular of, lost clients over it. Most that knew him said he was an honorable, decent man. Barbour’s machine in Madison ruined his life with these accusations. Ran his picture in ads for Cochran on TV. Just awful stuff.

If I lived in Ms. I would not vote for Cochran. I couldn’t after everything they have done.

Wonder if he was found on the couch with his arms neatly folded and the gun still in hand?

Mr. Mayfield’s wife was at home with him when he committed suicide. Today’s (June 28) Clarion-Ledger is reporting that she is the one who called 911 and reported her husband had shot himself. When authorities arrived, she directed them a storage room in the garage.

She later issued the following statement (as reported in the Clarion-Ledger):

“Today my husband, Mark Mayfield, took his own life. Mark was my husband for 31 years and a wonderful dad to our two sons, William and Owen,” Robin Mayfield said Friday afternoon.

“Mark had absolutely no history of any mental illness or depression. He was actively involved in his community and church and was liked and loved by all who knew him. He had no harsh words for anyone, even the people who used him for political gain. The pain we are feeling is indescribable. We appreciate the prayers and support from everyone.”

Hopefully, this will put an end to the baseless and wild speculation here on FR about what happened to Mr. Mayfield.

Mississippi? Well, as in many states, there were...

* An influx of southern Europeans by way of New York,

* Drugs,

* Feminism, romanticism, fatherlessness

* And gambling.

The laywers, bureaucrats, politicians and their other corrupt constituents not far desceded from southern Europe have had quite a party.
