A SWAT team blew a hole in my 2-year-old son

After our house burned down in Wisconsin a few months ago, my husband and I packed our four young kids and all our belongings into a gold minivan and drove to my sister-in-law’s place, just outside of Atlanta. On the back windshield, we pasted six stick figures: a dad, a mom, three young girls, and one baby boy.

That minivan was sitting in the front driveway of my sister-in-law’s place the night a SWAT team broke in, looking for a small amount of drugs they thought my husband’s nephew had. Some of my kids’ toys were in the front yard, but the officers claimed they had no way of knowing children might be present. Our whole family was sleeping in the same room, one bed for us, one for the girls, and a crib.

After the SWAT team broke down the door, they threw a flashbang grenade inside. It landed in my son’s crib.

Flashbang grenades were created for soldiers to use during battle. When they explode, the noise is so loud and the flash is so bright that anyone close by is temporarily blinded and deafened. It’s been three weeks since the flashbang exploded next to my sleeping baby, and he’s still covered in burns.

There’s still a hole in his chest that exposes his ribs.

Your statement is meaningless.

We all know the beginning from the end of whatever we observe. So what?

Think about what you are writing before you write.

Well, I don’t know of a single human being that knows the beginning from the end ... only God ... and that’s why we can rely on God’s word.

First off, I sincerely thank you for your service.

Not sure why you are directing so much anger at me, in the big scheme of things, it doesn’t matter much. I am fully aware how to private message someone, as well as being aware that a comment I choose to make in a public forum are designed by their nature, to be read by anyone.

But thanks for the insight :)

Oh I’m takin some names on this thread alright...of the WOSD supporting bootlickers who condone the right of adrenaline junkies to flashbang toddlers, so they can feel good about keeping kids off drugs.

You know, for the chirrens, and stuff...

Next time this happens they’ll get a special ping from me.

This militarization of police forces has very little to do with drugs. These drug arrests are just training.

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.“

So any authority that simply claims it is established by God I must 'submit' to?

What about Islam? It also claims to be established by God. Must I submit to it also?

How do I know what specific authority God has established in this particular case? Where in the scripture does it say small time hoods must be persecuted by throwing grenades at their relatives?

Am I supposed to submit to that authority? Simply because you proclaim it to be 'divine' by your interpretation on an internet forum???

I understand. It’s not the quote I am questioning. It’s your interpretation of it.

Because you seem to believe that a quote like this gives the STATE (not the church) the power to do your bidding against others, based on your interpretation of their morality.

Is it moral to destroy lives and property to keep people from destroying themselves? Is the collateral damage worth it?

You seem to think so. You state that the cause is ‘divine’, by your interpretation.

Only God truly knows what God actually means.

Well, I guess if this interpretation bothers you, you’re going to have trouble in more places than with God ... :-) ...

“One of the functions of government that you see is endorsed by God in the Bible, is to go after criminals and make them fearful of continuing their crimes.”

God gave us Scripture so that we would know him ... to the extent He has chosen to reveal himself in Scripture ...

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

So based on your interpretation - this fully vindicates the officers involved with throwing a FLASHBANG GRENADE into a TODDLER’S CRIB, because they were doing God’s bidding of making criminals fearful?

You’re sick. You may want to the look in the mirror for those problems w/God instead of trying to tack them onto others.

Perhaps you could quote me, from a previous post, on that one ... it seems to have slipped my memory ... :-) ...

I can't quote you exactly with that statement, because you didn't say it.

But based on YOUR OWN interpretation of the verses you pasted from scripture, which read:

“One of the functions of government that you see is endorsed by God in the Bible, is to go after criminals and make them fearful of continuing their crimes.” - (which was YOUR quote summarizing the versus you posted, not scripture - and thus- NOT God's opinion...)

So - if you are fine with the policy of SWAT Raids to 'make them fearful of continuing their crimes', then one can easily surmise that you are just dandy with the EPIDEMIC collateral damage that's been occuring with these raids for decades.

I see no other way to look at your viewpoint. You are inferring what the scripture means based on YOUR interpretation of it. That quote "“One of the functions of government that you see is endorsed by God in the Bible..." did not come from God himself. If it did, please provide the chapter and verse. King James Version please...

And for the record, I am quite sure God is not fine with toddler's having grenades thrown in their cribs by adrenaline junkies playing Rambo.

This ... “One of the functions of government that you see is endorsed by God in the Bible, is to go after criminals and make them fearful of continuing their crimes.” ... was my interpretation, according to what I just posted to you in Post #210 ...

That was originally posted at Post #77 in which these followed:

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves” (Romans 13:1-2).

“Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right” (1 Peter 2:13-14)

AND ... to fill that out more ... I’ll add right now, the following ...

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.

4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

(Romans 13:3-4)

Thanks for clarifying that it was your interpretation, not God’s. That’s the only point I had left to make.

Nowhere in any of that scripture does it say “One of the functions of government that you see is endorsed by God in the Bible, is to go after criminals and make them fearful of continuing their crimes.”.

So your interpretation of the scripture is that these SWAT Raids, which are absolutely designed to instill fear - are fully justified by God, so they are moral in your eyes, and any collateral damage, is quite acceptable.

Here’s a very good rundown of the damage to our society and liberty that’s acceptable to you - all in the name of making “them fearful of continuing their crimes.”

http://www.cato.org/raidmap

And I find this one particularly appalling.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-watch/wp/2014/02/23/jury-awards-more-than-2-million-to-family-of-pastor-killed-by-narcotics-task-force/

All seemingly OK with you, based on what you believe the Bible says. Sorry, I just can’t fathom...

War On *Some* Drugs.

Because Alcohol is a drug. Nicotine is a drug. Both of those are far more harmful than some of the illegal ones...yet the state fully endorses those while waging WAR on the others. While making out like gangbusters with billions in revenue from the ‘State Approved Vices’.

What did I not deny?

I oppose these militaristic police actions, I always have. Cops who do things like this need prison time.

Just because a pothead wants to pretend otherwise does not make it true.

Maybe you should read the thread.

Anyone who accuses a freeper of support child murder because they oppose drugs is NOT WORTHY of being a member this forum.

It says it pretty clearly here ...

The elements are there ... the governing authority, the criminal (who engages in evil), be fearful because the authority doesn’t wield the sword in vain, and there no crime for good works (no reason to be fearful).

I can’t see any difference between what I said and what the Word of God said there, except for choice of words and grammar and syntax. It’s saying exactly that ... just in my own words.
