House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa says he's willing to consider immunity for former IRS official Lois Lerner, but he wants to know what she plans to say first.
"If she were willing to proffer through her attorney that she would tell us something meaningful, disclose how these crimes were committed, how they sought to and who sought to go after conservative groups because of their values, then we could, and I would have a vote to grant her immunity," Issa said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor."
But Issa said that South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor, has warned him never to grant immunity without a proffer of what the witness will say.

One must have other evidence to confirm testimony.
The only other evidence are the long gone emails.
Do you not realize that without email confirmation she can say anything
she wants? And it cannot be confirmed?
What purpose would that serve to offer her immunity?
She has nothing to offer but verbal testimony, which cannot be confirmed.
You only grant immunity if you already know exactly what she will testify to, but you just need her to say it publicly under oath. With the Obama gang there is far too much chance that immunity will be granted and she will still claim to know nothing.
I agree. However, I asked about this at a symposium at the recent CPAC in St. Louis and the answer was, "Not yet. The affected Tea Parties also have civil suits in process and her immunity would blow them out of the water." So, that may be why they have not already done it.
HAHAHAHA. You think that’ll get anything? She’ll just say. “YEP, IT WAS ALL ME. I DID IT, I MASTERMINDED IT! Am I free to go now.”
I think that makes sense.
You're right, people are getting angry, as citizens are harassed by the IRS for political reasons and VA patients are dying, and everyone in the system shrugs and says, "Don't blame me. Anyway, what difference does it make now?"
If some people don't go to jail, maybe heads will roll. Shinseki on a pike, perhaps?
Issa can have the House Sergeant at Arms arrest and imprison Lerner RIGHT NOW! That fact that he does not means he is in full cover-up mode.
She will never take immunity as she will never be prosecuted by this DOJ. She and her attorney would be idiots to take immunity knowning how weak the Republican leadership is. Just my 2 cents.
I am sure Cummings is feeling the heat right now.
The problem seems to be that the House can refer all the charges they want but it is the Justice department not the House that makes the decision to prosecute. The chance of Holder prosecuting is none to zero.As long as that is the case Lerner’s attorney is not going to proffer anything at all. They don’t need immunity when the prosecutor is in their corner to protect them. That is why a Special Prosecutor is essential and then immunity can be used to get to the bottom of this.
Let’s roll!
Issa is playing mind games-—
Letting the WH knows they’re communicating the LL and her people.
Shame he can’t have her present emails and phone tapped.
“This woman will LIE, LIE, LIE when given immunity....its what THEY DO! If anyone thinks she wont ....they dont understand the CHI mafia”
Issa (Gowdy) will know what Learner will give up before granting immunity. It will be worked out by the Attorney’s. If she claims stupid and doesn’t dish it out no immunity will be given, but what evidence she does reveal can’t be used against her.
Immunity from what? Who is going to prosecute her?
BTW, where is now?
BS.
Take her “immunity” and her pension.
Put her in jail.
