Police Tuesday identified the man who died after falling or being pulled into a wood chipper at a work site in Davie.
Hernan Gutierrez, 42, whose last known address was in Hallandale Beach worked for Tree Techs, Inc. of Pembroke Pines, according to Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle.
Police and federal occupational safety officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
Gutierrez and two co-workers were clearing debris on Southwest 57th Street near Pine Island Road around 4:15 p.m. Monday when he went through the machine that Engle described as industrial size.
The tree trimming work was taking place on the property of Federation Gardens, an 80-unit affordable housing apartment building for seniors, according to management agent John Sharkey.

Except the Writer seemed to have just forgotten and left dangling the bag of $ in the snow and the deaf mute hit man.
Billy Bob Thornton was almost as good as in Slingblade.
Billy Bob was GREAT
if they can find another original screen play they will make another(not to be a series per se)
if they do...you have the money and Mr. Wrench enter. it was left out there on purpose
Our county recently did a “whole tree harvest” project and contracted a company to come in an take a complete section of forest out. The equipment used would accept three or four full sized oak trees, branches and all, at one time and chop them into chips to be used to make brown paper. No one was ever allowed to even walk near that machine when it was operating. If caught by any limb or branch and dragged into the machine you were DEAD and immediately.
Gonna be difficult to pull Billy Bob back in. That’s usually only done in soap operas.
Daymn! that is one big bad machine!
The state of our society is a couple dozen freepers matter-of-factly discussing or joking about the tragic death of a hard working human being.
Your souls are lost already - don’t worry about the rest of the country’s.
I agree. Some things are not funny.
My guess is an illegal working on a crew without proper safety training. These crews and machines work so fast, you have to observe so may precautions, I don’t have to tell the experts. Down here in FL (and other places) I’ve noted the non English speaking illegals have very little concept of how to do things right or to code, but it is so hard to find contractors that DON’T hire them.
So we just watch like hawks when we hire for a job, but most people don’t know what to watch for. This poor guy probably was an accident waiting to happen.
And the ice scraper!
How many illegal aliens does it take to clear a brush chipper......?
Yep, Fargo.

I can live with dropping the mute guy, but the question of the money bothered me.
What’s the problem with the bag of money in the snow?
My neighbor two houses down the street was having a large tree cut down yesterday. Same truck and wood chipper as shown these news articles. My two-year-old granddaughter was curious about the noise so I took her over to watch for a while from across the street. Huge limbs were swallowed in seconds and a spray of chips went into the truck. She was fascinated watching that spectacle. I noticed the worker was very careful to stand at the side and not in front of the mouth. Most of the time he threw a lot of limbs into the chute with the machine off, then powered it up at the side. That’s being careful.
