‘Crackpot Plan’ To Split California Into Six States Shoots For 2016 Ballot
Breitbart ^ | 6-23-14 | by ROBERT WILDE

A petition drive to divide California into six separate states was active on Saturday and Sunday in Los Angeles, aimed at getting the plan on the ballot in 2016.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Timothy Draper, a venture capitalist from Menlo Park, is spearheading the current effort and has injected $2 million dollars into the project so far.

The optimistic Draper argues that a truncated California will dissolve bureaucratic gridlock in Sacramento and will be more conducive for business. Draper told the Times back in April that "California has become the worst managed state in the country… It just is too big and too ungovernable."

It’ll never happen. All areas will have huge losses in their tax base if the zones are divided. May as well make a hard-core junkie go cold turkey.

I realize you’re there and much more knowledgeable about the territory.

But

There’s no way the Cali legislature is going to allow a breakup that benefits Republicans nationally.

Well, how about the south and other states that are tired of the Obama BS secede from the union?

On second thought the yellow area would break Dead Zone, so it would be about a 6/6 split in Senators.

And crackpot it is. It is grandstanding pure and simple. Stands no chance of passage and less chance of approval. What will it do? It will drive Libs to the polls in a off year when CA was otherwise looking at low voter turnout.

Throw in Boulder Colorado, Travis County Texas and Dade County Illinois into one of the new “states” and I am all for it.

Many states have large, Democrat controlled cities that essentially determine the electoral votes for the entire state.

I'd be fine with a California break up if it came with a Michigan break up and an Illinois breakup and a Pennsylvania break up, etc, etc. that allowed Republicans and conservatives to declare independence from their Democrat controlled state governments.

Only if they split Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and New York.

It has to be approved by Congress.

I think California has to withdraw from the union first before it can reapply for statehood as six states — and that will require a civil war first.

Actually, this plan could slightly reduce Democrat hegemony.

Jefferson would elect 2 Republicans routinely.
North California would elect 2 Dems routinely.
Silicon Valley: 2 Dems.
Central California: 2 Republicans.
West California: obviously 2 Dems.
South California: 2 Republicans ... but not as reliably.

That’s 6 Senators for each party — parity.

Not saying I’m in favor of this never-gonna-pass-anyway plan, but it probably would NOT further pad Democratic representation in the US Senate, and IMO would reduce it slightly.

Let them withdraw and don’t let them back in.

If the Obama Amnesty (by whatever name, whether by law or fiat) isn't stopped, what difference will it make?

Soon enough it will all be Mexico/Aztlan!
