The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) cancelled its longtime relationship with an email-storage contractor just weeks after ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s computer crashed and shortly before other IRS officials’ computers allegedly crashed.

The IRS signed a contract with Sonasoft, an email-archiving company based in San Jose, California, each year from 2005 to 2010. The company, which partners with Microsoft and counts The New York Times among its clients, claims in its company slogans that it provides “Email Archiving Done Right” and “Point-Click Recovery.” Sonasoft in 2009 tweeted, “If the IRS uses Sonasoft products to backup their servers why wouldn’t you choose them to protect your severs?

“Why this country is not standing outside every IRS building in this country with pitchforks and flaming torches is beside me.”

When I was in grade school, teachers would assign busy work so they would not have to teach and we would not have to learn but it was demanded that it be done because it kept the students out of trouble.

the govt. demands so much busy work (aka red tape) nowdays that no one has time to protest anything.

This just gets curiouser and curiouser.

I'm sure the mainstream media will soon be all over this string of convenient events. (/sarcasm)

No the public isn’t stupid...there is a law requiring paper copies for back up for agencies like the IRS.

http://investmentwatchblog.com/irs-was-using-sonasoft-email-backup-services/

AND how long do they have to keep those paper copies?

I would go for “active co conspirators”

I still think it’s odd that this contract was for only $13,000, is that typical of a contract to back up emails of 100,000 employees? We could be looking at the wrong contract. There are other contracts in the contract database that were for document storage, and for much larger amounts.

I agree. What is missing is drilling down to IT event logs, work tickets, etc as well as the nuts and bolts of data retention and storage policy and procedure. Where is the IRS data vault?

If there were a sexual harassment suit involving an IRS employee, that vault would be accessed in a New York minute.

That’s what I’m thinking. The company should still have those emails. I hope Issa has picked up the phone and called them already.

There is nothing citizens can do to the IRS peacefully that will change them one bit. They are America’s extra constitutional secret police. There are two avenues available to us to eliminate the IRS. One is the Article V CoS the other of course is Congress. I am a great believer in a national retail sales tax. Set constitutionally at say 10%. The income tax amendment would be repealed and income and property tax outlawed. Additionally, we must strip the ability of congress to write tax law. That is, they cannot change the constitutionally mandated sales tax rate or establish any other taxes. You and I know the above is pie in the sky so the easiest way to essentially get rid of the IRS is to go to a flat income tax of say 10%. Then eliminate the IRS. They would no longer be needed as currently constituted.

They should’ve had the IT director testifying..guarantee those emails are backed up somewhere. The slime they had on the other day is just there to obfuscate.

http://www.irs.gov/irm/part1/irm_01-010-003.html

1.10.3.2.4 #3 notes that you cannot delete any e mails that could be used for freedom of information or federal information.....that would require a paper copy or an outside back up (sonasoft) that has nothing to do with Lerner’s computer.

Lerner needs to go to prison for withholding evidence among many other crimes, and I will pray she and this Administration are charged and convicted.

This will not stand, and as for ‘for their own hardware servers’ it would not be their own personal computer since their storage is limited and would have to be transferred to the Sonasoft storage server....ALL BACK UP was not corrupted. Only destroyed by criminals at the IRS if not availabe.
