Some brands will just add in more of the cheaper, more plentiful (but less tasty) robusta beans.

You mean Starbuck’s overpriced prices are going to be overpriced? Sucks for the economy but coffee is a filthy beverage as anyone who has ever had to clean a break room can attest.

Just heard on the business news on Thursday morning that the drought wasn’t that severe, and coffee prices should be coming down. Maybe Schulz at Starbuck’s is just paying for that college program for his employees.

About two years ago was the last time I saw Maxwell House for $5 a can. I had bought 6 or 8 cans to add to my stash and I haven't bought coffee for that two years.

My stash is down to about 4 or 5 cans now and I've been waiting for the price to dive again .... guess it won't happen.

I've got about 40 lbs of unsalted butter I got at $1.60 or so about a year and a half ago ... some grocery couldn't sell the un-salted butter so they slashed the price and I haven't bought butter in all that time.

I've been doing this for years.

Lot of stories about how this or that is about to get a lot more expensive or scarce (same thing) and yet we are told inflation is “contained”.

Don’t think the drought in South America will have much of an impact on SE Asian coffees, so my preferred Trung Nguyen coffee prices will likely be unchanged.

Coffee is actually very cheap. I think the marketplace could easily sustain a tripling of price without losing much demand.

I’ve been seeing articles about coffee shortages and price increases for years now.

Sounds like it’s time for me to buy about 30# of green beans. I mostly roast African an Indonesian coffee anyway, but I imagine it will push up prices everywhere. The great thing about green coffee, is that it will keep for about 3 years.
