This is not the first time that al-Husainy has called for restrictions on the freedom of speech. In 2012 he declared: They should put a law not to insult a spiritual leader. Al-Husainy is also a virulently antisemitic supporter of Hizballah. With the President of the United States having declared the the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam, and many in the mainstream media eagerly practicing self-censorship to appease Islamic supremacists, he probably sees this as his best chance to impose Sharia speech restrictions upon the U.S.
Im not in favor of book burnings, but to use the burning of any book to impose free speech restrictions is to destroy a foundation of free society and bring tyranny to the U.S.
(UPDATED) Qurans burned at Dearborn mosque; imams consider new law, by Aysha Jamali, Press & Guide, June 17, 2014 (thanks to all who sent this in):
DEARBORN Several Qurans were burned in front of a mosque at about noon Tuesday in possible connection with anti-Islam Pastor Terry Jones expected visit to the city Saturday.
The three copies of the Quran, Muslims holy book believed to be the word of God, were set on fire and left to burn at the curb in front of the Karbalaa Islamic Educational Center, 15332 W. Warren Ave.
The imam of the mosque, Sheikh Husham Al-Husainy, confirmed that the incident occurred and that police are investigating .
Why are they investigating? It isnt illegal to burn a book in the U.S. at least not yet.
Imam wants new law banning burning of holy books
Several attorneys also met with the imams at Thursdays meeting. Al-Husainy said they helped with legal advice in his plan for a new law making it illegal to burn or desecrate holy books.
We want all of the religions to cooperate with us to bring respect to the word of God, whether the Quran, Bible, or Torah, he said.
He said he understands it will be a challenge.
But again, a journey of 1,000 miles starts with one step, he said.
He and the imams will collect signatures of supporters before addressing the City Council to inquire about making a new city ordinance.
Al-Husainy said its a duty to protect the divine word. He said he worries that a nation where the words of God are burned in disrespect will not be blessed anymore.
Several attempts to legally prohibit the desecration of the American flag have failed in the U.S. for reasons that it violates rights to free speech.
Al-Husainy needs to show his conviction and leave the US for good.
Ayup. There's your problem, right there.
Who decides what is "Holy"?
From what I have seen, to different folks that runs the gamut from The Holy Bible to the owner's manual for a 67 Chevelle.
Its only since Obama has been in my White House that Islamic imams and others have thought it OK to destroy the Constitutional rights of Americans...
I don’t remember much of that sort of un-American activity before that...
Why are they investigating?

“to the owner’s manual for a 67 Chevelle”
Speaketh not ill of the 67 Chevelle. Glory be to the 396 cubic inch. Idle not too long at the light, for is it not glorious to smoketh the tires? Yeah be unto those with four on the floor!
Best response I have seen in awhile. Thank you for the smile today.
LOL nice.
Thankfully the internet is still safe!
Can we add the American flag to that ban?
‘...not to insult a spiritual leader.’ What kind of spirits are we talking about? The spirits of Islam are from Satan. Not to insult the spirits of hell? Give me a break!
This is disturbing. If I saw a koran burning, I know just how I’d put it out.
Behold the power of the wedge head! (does burnout)....LOL!
Some bullets are reserved for “special” people. He is one of them.
I’m laying money that the Muzzies staged the whole event for Islamic sympathy themselves and the idiot part of our population will fall for the ruse and side with him.
> This is disturbing. If I saw a koran burning, I know just how Id put it out.
More gasoline?...
This was supposed to be ironic and/or sarcastic, wasn't it?
Bite me.
